Rooney's & Stuart's Hurricane **** LOOKS Like It will MISS US!

************Yep - sounds like we are lucking out here!  Saying prayers for the other side of the state and those in the Carolinas!!!!

Roon E. Doodle reporting in here from Fort Myers, FL or Hurricane central according to my crazy cautious momma.  You see there is a hurricane heading this way - or maybe that a way - or any ol way but it is a hurricane.  This will be our very 1st hurricane so momma is kinda getting weird.  The most important thing is that we have these really big bags of Orijen kibble that are stacked up in a spare bathroom, a big ol bag of Stella & Chewy's, and a whole bunch of these BIG plastic containers of water.  Mom says that no matter what happens Stuart and I get to eat and drink.  Poor daddy - I saw mom stocking up on canned beans and granola bars!  We now have a cooler setting in one of the spare showers that is big enough to hide a dead body in.  Mom says that we will fill it up with ice if things look like we could lose our electric.  I heard my mom tell daddy that she can't drink warm wine.  WTD?  Dad was supposed to go to NYC tomorrow but he surprised mom by canceling his travel plans, he said he loves us too much to leave us here with a storm coming, awww - I love my daddy.  Mom made dad promise that if it looks like it could "hit" here, that we are in the puppy hauler and we are outta here!  We could go to my sister's house in Atlanta.  I like it there because my Lab friend Cal eats this really cheap dog food and boy oh boy is it ever tasty.  Stuart is voting to evacuate right now because if we go to Atlanta he could meet up with Beamer - his brother for a play date.  Right now mom is running around placing electric candles and flashlights in all the rooms.  Mom is talking in code to dad and I'm not sure what she has up her sleeve.  Something about if we lose power and the toilets don't flush that the one of the "spare" bathrooms needs to be for #2.  Huh?  I know one thing for sure - I will NOT go outside to potty if things are really bad outside, Stuart - he is still a baby and mom would excuse an accident from him but I am a big boy.  I better practice holding it.  I have to go now - mom is heading to the gas station - she said she needs her tank full?  Further updates to follow.

Hey Roon E...It's me Bailey in Jacksonville...so far so good here.  The weather station is saying it is going to move off the beach for us.  Maybe some wind but it shouldn't be to bad. ...as long as things don't change.  I am a little nervous though.  If it gets to bad my mom has to go to the hospital and take care of all the mommies that might be having their babies because of something called the "drop in air pressure" whatever that means.  I will be left here with my dad and human brother...should me interesting for me no doubt.

Anyway, stay safe and keep us updated....and just think about how much fun it will be to play in the mud after the rain...It's my favorite thing to do..

Puppy kisses to you and your family...

Bailey

Roon E. Doodle,

It sounds pretty exciting and scary at your house.  You are the big brother, so take care of Stuart.  I can hold it really, really long so I'll bet you can also.  You can come here in your toy hauler - do you bring lots of toys.  I would like that cause ours are all destroyed rags.  It is all Clancy's and Sunny's faults.

Your buddy,

Ned

Oh Rooney (and Jane).  I can so relate to the dreaded hurricanes.  We lived in Orlando the year they had 4.  The very first one (the first one for me), DH had actually gone to NC to get his Mom in a nursing home before we knew that it was coming, so I was home alone.  I rode it out in the MBR Closet with a mattress on the floor, small TV and radio and my dog and the next door neighbors dog, my cell phone and the house phone.  I would no more hang up talking to DH than my Mom would be on the phone, all more scared than me.  I honestly could not feel or hear anything.  Guess our house was just sitting in the right direction that the wind wasn't hitting it badly.  Happened at night time so I really couldn't see outside.  Made it through that one and the next one was supposed to be bad so I packed up the entire house and moved everything to the center of the house and put it all underneath big plastic tarps.  The 3rd one we actually boarded up all the windows and just left them boarded up because by the time #3 was over they were already talking about #4.  DH was on the hurricane team at Univ of Central FL where he worked so we always rode out the storms in his warehouse on Campus.   It was like camping out for days indoors.  He always had to be there before the storm was supposed to come in and of course they always seem to get delayed so it was usually 24-72 hours that we would be locked down on campus ...... by the time #4 was over I had no sense of humor left at all.   I got so sick and tired of moving everything off the patio and porch and securing everything outside only to have to then put it all back outside to find another storm headed our way.  We were very lucky that all we ever lost was a couple trees and a few shingles so I really couldn't complain.  So, 10 years, and 4 hurricanes all in the same year.  That was it.  My hurricane kit is now a blizzard kit!  Funny thing was the year we moved back to Ohio a hurricane came up through the gulf and made its way all the way into Ohio and blew the crap out of this area downing trees and knocking out power for days.  Worse than anything we ever had in FL.  Good luck.  Hopefully just like most times it is all hyped for the news and it will stay out in the ocean.

I do hope you are all safe and that all those things your Mom and Dad are doing won't be needed at all.

Roon E, You have the best mom and dad. Your mom is taking every precaution and, honestly, I cannot imagine our dad staying home from a business trip due to anything that might leave us unsafe. Our dad loves us so much we go for runs every day, but he loves his work!

Roon E, we've been worrying about you up here too.  I heard my Mom tell my Dad something about this earlier today, and how she was hoping all the Doodles and their families would be okay.  It sounds like your Mom has everything under control, buddy.....Moms are good about that stuff.  It's really nice of your Dad too...he would have been very worried if he wasn't around for something like this.  I hope your Mom got caught up on that laundry today....we all know you're Dad isn't too good about that.  Murph and I are hoping that this hurricane does not hit....but if it does it's good to know you've got plenty of Stella & Chewys.  Actually your DD may like that better than those canned beans....just sayin.  Keep us posted...we're all thinking of you guys.  Guinness
