Rua - Counter Surfing? How is that even possible?

Rua and I did a little AKC S.T.A.R Puppy training this AM.  I took out my baggies of training treats.  I have Cherrios in one, kibble in another, freeze-dried beef liver in one, and another full of 4 different training treats, cut up into 3/8" x 3/8" pieces).  I alternate rewards....Cherrios for the easy stuff, kibble here and there, the tiny pieces for harder and the liver for high-value.

Well, I was working on sit/stay and down/stay.  I was giving her Cherrios for sits, tiny pieces for sit/stays and downs, and working on down/stays with liver.  We did a session this am, and I left the baggies on my kitchen counter since we would be doing more training (normally the treats are in the basket on the counter).  DH was downstairs, I was in my office (on DK) off the entry and he came upstairs and asked Rua what she had (should have known something was up, it was too quiet).

Well, I walk out into the living room and she had a empty baggie...with the bottom chewed up (I don't believe she ingested baggie since there were pieces of it still on the floor.  What she did ingest was a HUGE handful of training treats.  I still can't believe it.

Here is sweet LITTLE Rua sitting in front of the counter:

Here is Rua in action:

She is like a pogo stick...this is Rua on the DOWN part of the jump (you can tell by the way her hair/ears are flying up).   Her back legs up to where they join, are a whopping 9".

She was one full little tummy right now!  I am going to guess she won't need any dinner tonight!

I never in my wildest dreams ever thought I would have to worry about her counter surfing.  Guess I better watch what I leave along the edge of the counter.

I still can't believe Rua is a counter surfer!

You rock, little Rua!  Have you thought about agility classes?

Once she finishes her Puppy STAR class....I'm thinking agility.  She'll be a natural.  Who would ever have guesses...Rua the Counter Surfer.

P.S.  The day she figures out how to open that wine fridge, you're in BIG trouble!  :)

Holy Cow, she must be part kangaroo!  That's so funny that you got the photos - those ears are adorable.

LOL and she looks so innocent.  I think doodles have "springs" for legs.

It is amazing isn't it?  Our lab mix and Springer NEVER countersurfed.  My son's 120 pound doberman (size of a small great dane) NEVER countersurfed. Even Clancy, our rescue, who probably had to find his own food at times, does not countersurf...   However my daughter's lab, and little Ned.......

What a jump! Maybe you can incorporate her ability to jump into a trick!
