Move over rubber duckie because you aren't the only one that makes bathtime lots of fun.
Today, I decided I would give Max a long needed bath. I've been counting the days since surgery to get all the IV fluids and yogurt out of his beard and paws - not to mention, the since accumulated, mud from all the Poochie Bell runs. I gave Max quite a few baths over the last few months because I really wanted to get him aquainted with the idea. I even took him to the groomer at a young age. When I first started giving Max baths he would shake like a leaf and eventually grew to cowar in a corner hoping it would all end soon enough. I thought that was good enough and perhaps he just would never love the idea of a bath. I figured it beat being petrified and attempting to jump out of the tub. I even taught him to "shake it out" on command.
I don't know if my little boy is maturing or the lack of testosterone post neutering but, he actually enjoyed it! He didn't cowar or moan. Instead, he tried to drink the water from the hand held shower head. He went TO the water. Afterward, he even went to the master bathroom to get dried with the hairdryer. If it wasn't for the teeny tiny black spot on his nose, which distinguishes him from other handsome doodles, I would take him back to the vet demanding my dog back. It would be like a scene with Angelina Jolie in Changeling.
He has been really well behaved for the last few days. It has made all the hard work worth the effort. I know that hard work isn't close to being over and never will be but, It has been such a nice break for both Max and I to have some more freedom. He is eating all his food, using the Poochie Bells and now, enjoying a bath. Good grief Charlie Brown! What more could one ask for?
I'm off to snuggle and sniff my dog like one of those oddballs in the Febreeze commercials.
Have a wonderful weekend. I'm going to take Max to a local doggie playgroup Saturday.
