Tuesday morning my youngest and I took Ruston to get spayed. Once again she was afraid of going out the front door. She did walk around a bit once we got her outside. I had to lift her into the car. The ride was great, my daughter sat in the back seat with her. At the vet's office she jumped right out of the car but had difficulty going into the office. Meaning I carried her in and set her on the scale to be weighed. She is 56 pounds now! She was so scared, shaking and panting that the vet assistant had a hard time trying to listen to her heart. Ruston wouldn't even take the beef flavored pain med. Then we had to leave her. Once she was in post-up the vet called to talk with me. Surgery went well and while she was still under they did a re-check of her ears. One is all better but the other one is still badly infected so he said they did a culture on it and cleaned it up. I am sure it was easier on Ruston doing that while she was sleeping. She will have to continue her ear meds for another 7 days and get checked again. Ruston had to spend the night there. Wednesday afternoon we went to get her. She was so excited to see us. She didn't have any issues leaving the vet's office or getting in the car on her own! She did do some whining on the ride home but I think that was due more to the bumps the car went over. Once home she got right out of the car and went inside to greet her siblings (the other pets). They were happy to see her return though they did seem to enjoy the quiet while she was gone. Ruston snuggled with me and took a long nap. She has been napping on and off the rest of the night. I think Ruston is as happy to be home as my daughter and I are to have her back.
