PACIFIER!! UGH!
It's been quite a week here in our crazy house. For those of you who don't know, I have a 6 week old son, Patrick, and 2 doodles. (I have noticed, however, that I post far more crazy stories about Seamus than I do about Stella....he's a monster lol).
But anyway....On Thursday I rushed my son to his pediatrician because I thought he had a fever....he totally didn't and I felt like an idiot when their thermometer read 98.3...mine read 99.7. On Friday, I realized that I had developed a severe infection (mastisis) which often happens to nursing mothers. I wound up having a 102 degree fever and basically felt like I got hit by a truck.
Then today, it happened....Now Seamus has always been interested in my son's pacifiers. He has stolen one in the past, sniffed one, licked it....but we never thought he would actually eat one.
So today when we finished lunch, we picked Patrick up from his little chair, which is at Seamus' level, and within 30 seconds, Seamus grabbed the pacifier from the chair, ran into the dining room, went under the table where he can't be reached, and literally swallowed it whole. UNBELIEVABLE!
We called the vet and to my disappointment (even though I knew what was coming) he told us to induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide. We used a turkey baster (I guess we'll never use that again for Thanksgiving) to shoot the stuff into poor Seamus' mouth. I felt terrible and the poor guy didn't even know what hit him. I cannot imagine how awful it must feel.... LUCKILY it worked and about a half hour later out came the foamy pacifier, along with other disgusting stomach contents.
Seamus is still sulking at the moment, but he did eat dinner and seems to be feeling better. So, I guess lesson learned....No more pacifiers (or anything else tiny and attractive to dear Seamus for that matter) ANYWHERE that our big guy can grab them.
UPDATE from Seamus:
It's been a bad week for me...I don't understand why mom and dad had to make me drink that gross stuff =( Yesterday was a better day though...mom made me rice and a boiled hamburger and I didn't throw up at all. And I ate breakfast this morning too! I had no appetite for 2 days after I ate my little brother's special chew toy. All I know is that I'm never going near one of those things again!

Awww....Poor Seamus. I hope he has learned his lesson, although judging by my Bexter and how many times he has eaten part of a sock & puked it up...well, let's just say that maybe Bexter is a S...L...O...W learner & hopefully Seamus is quicker to learn that lesson! BTW - They look so cute together! They will grow up to be great buddies & someday Patrick will laugh at what Seamus did!
What a beautiful baby, the human one :-) Seamus looks like he has learned his lesson. That hydrogen peroxide really makes them throw up everything!! Glad he is OK
I'm glas Semus is feeling better and it could have been much worse. You are lucky you noiced right away and took action !!!!
Sure glad everyone is better! Patrick is such a handsome fella, and that sleeping look on his face is like, "Whatever." And Seamus does look contrite!
I'm so glad that Seamus is doing fine....thank goodness he didn't need surgery to remove it. You certainly have your hands full right now. Patrick is such a beautiful baby, and Seamus looks like he's very sorry for this "incident'.
Now that is one adorable picture of your two little boys....Seamus looks liked he has learned his lesson, look at his sweet face...Just so glad he is ok...And of course your son is way cute. What fun they are going to have together in years to come...
Awwwww :) I love this update. I'm glad everyone is feeling better!
Adorable .. you really should have hung in there for another day of hamburger and rice though! Now it's back to just plain ole dog food.
OMD! Tooooooo sweet!
Ahhh.... Seamus you just gotta learn the difference between your chew toys and your brothers. Yours really are tastier. Ned and Clancy
PS your brother sure is cute, especially when he is sleeping. Our cousin never sleeps, but she is cute too.
