PACIFIER!! UGH!
It's been quite a week here in our crazy house. For those of you who don't know, I have a 6 week old son, Patrick, and 2 doodles. (I have noticed, however, that I post far more crazy stories about Seamus than I do about Stella....he's a monster lol).
But anyway....On Thursday I rushed my son to his pediatrician because I thought he had a fever....he totally didn't and I felt like an idiot when their thermometer read 98.3...mine read 99.7. On Friday, I realized that I had developed a severe infection (mastisis) which often happens to nursing mothers. I wound up having a 102 degree fever and basically felt like I got hit by a truck.
Then today, it happened....Now Seamus has always been interested in my son's pacifiers. He has stolen one in the past, sniffed one, licked it....but we never thought he would actually eat one.
So today when we finished lunch, we picked Patrick up from his little chair, which is at Seamus' level, and within 30 seconds, Seamus grabbed the pacifier from the chair, ran into the dining room, went under the table where he can't be reached, and literally swallowed it whole. UNBELIEVABLE!
We called the vet and to my disappointment (even though I knew what was coming) he told us to induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide. We used a turkey baster (I guess we'll never use that again for Thanksgiving) to shoot the stuff into poor Seamus' mouth. I felt terrible and the poor guy didn't even know what hit him. I cannot imagine how awful it must feel.... LUCKILY it worked and about a half hour later out came the foamy pacifier, along with other disgusting stomach contents.
Seamus is still sulking at the moment, but he did eat dinner and seems to be feeling better. So, I guess lesson learned....No more pacifiers (or anything else tiny and attractive to dear Seamus for that matter) ANYWHERE that our big guy can grab them.
UPDATE from Seamus:
It's been a bad week for me...I don't understand why mom and dad had to make me drink that gross stuff =( Yesterday was a better day though...mom made me rice and a boiled hamburger and I didn't throw up at all. And I ate breakfast this morning too! I had no appetite for 2 days after I ate my little brother's special chew toy. All I know is that I'm never going near one of those things again!

Love it! Cute kids - I am talking about Patrick AND Seamus :)
What an adorable picture!!! Two cuties, for sure!! I am glad Seamus is staying away from those pacifiers.
What a couple of cuties!! Glad you are doing better Seamus and your little adventure into eating baby brother's chew toys had a good ending!
Good boy, Seamus! It's a smart doodle who learns from his mistakes! You and your little brother are a very cute pair!
Seamus, You are one amazing doodle if you actually are able to associate your peroxide experience with your pacifier eating. Will you please come over and teach Owen that bad behavior results in consequences? I just need to tell you that your baby are absolutely adorable!
Awwwwww!!!!! So adorable - both of your babies!
Seamus, so glad you learned from your experience. What a gorgeous baby and handsome doodle.
Wow - I am pretty sure Peri is going to be stealing pacis too. Hopefully she won't swallow them whole. Hang in there....
Hope you are feeling better!!!!
OMD! You are incredibly busy with a new baby, breast infection, two doodles. Whew! Hang in there. I remember the agony of a breast infection. It takes over your whole body. ugh. It will get easier. Enjoy that darling baby. We have a little monster doodle at our house and have found that we have to keep consistent in his training and discipline. The minute we relax, he takes every advantage.
We left the house last week and forgot to peruse the area for danger. There was a giant chocolate bar on a side table. I already knew about hydrogen peroxide so I poured some down each of them. It took awhile but they both threw up foamy chocolate. There was candy wrapper in Owen's. He is such a goofy guy. Kona would never take anything off a table. We will not be this careless again!
