Sophie is very curious and thinks that every living creature is alive for her to play with. I had found a couple bees today crawling around in search for warmth. I got rid of them and didn't think much of it. Of course, Sophie saw a bee crawling along the door jam, and was extremely curious. I look over to her snififng around near the sliding glass door, at this point I wasn't really paying attention. Next think I know my dog is freaking out, pawing at her nose and then there is a bee flung to the kitchen floor.
Looking back on it, I have to say the look on her face was so sad. I wasn't sure what was happening at the time. Looking back, it was as if the instant she was stung- she just looked at her nose, startled, as if to say "hey!! that hurt!" and then began pawing at her face. I realized what was going on as soon as I saw the bee.
I couldn't find the stinger. Of course I found and disposed of the bee. Her left top lip is a bit swollen and warm. She let me put a cool rag on it for awhile. No signs of facial swelling.
Poor girl is pretty sad, I am sure it hurts. Needless to say, she won't go near the door jam of the sliding glass door!
