She's just a mixed breed and not friendly at all with strangers!

We were returning from a trip to visit family in Texas and had stopped at a truck stop gas station outside of Dallas. I was walking two of our Maltese. We traveled in our motorhome with four Maltese and our Holly - who is now two years old and 65-70 pounds.

As I was pottying the Maltese, a van came rolling up with two ragged young men. One of them asked me if I wanted to buy a home entertainment center. When I said "No, thanks", he pressed the issue and said. "Come on, we have one left over from our job and will make you a good price!"

They were probably either trying to fence stolen goods or they wanted to rob me if I took out cash to buy their product.

As they were trying to press me, Judy came walking up with Holly! One of the guys said, "Man, that's a big dog! What kind is it?" Judy was smart enough to reply. "She's just a mixed breed and not friendly at all with strangers!" The spokesman for the pair said, "Well, have a good day, Maam!" and drove off.

They are lucky that they did, Holly would have licked them to death!

Holly is really quite protective when she is with Judy. She didn't act aggressive but, she didn't wag her tail either.

Gad that all worked out OK. You might have been surprised by how protective your dood may have been....we had a "door to door" solicitor surprise me while I was stacking wood the other day. Nug was outside with me....tethered to my belt...I think she sensed my unease and she really let go with a low intense growly bark. I was pretty impressed! The guy left and Nug got lots of belly rubs! :-)

What great thinking!! I get nervous sometimes when people ask about Timbow, but if they tried to take him they would have another thing coming. So glad you're all ok.
