So We Wait

I figured I would give an update on Jack...We have been to the vet, the specialist and the ER more times then I can actually count. So far, we still do not have a definitive diagnoses. Today we went back for more extensive testing, Blood work being sent away to Texas somewhere.

 

He seems like he is back to a decent level of himself, He is eating and playing when provoked to. I was kind of hoping the specialist would have said it was a virus or something but his lab work is so inconsistent. Day to day levels that should be within a certain parameter are all over the place. Today is no different.

 

His adrenal glands are still not working properly but he responded slightly to the ACTH test, right on the border of what would be acceptable and what would not be. Same thing for his Thyroid... His intestines are more swollen then the previous ultra sound .. They are now running a liver panel. . Some of the other testing they are doing is for malabsorbtion of his vitamins.. and fat.

 

They are going to need to do more invasive testing but they want to do the least invasive first.  It is hard for me to tell with Jack because he is very clingy to me when I am sick or about to get sick and right now I am sicker then I have ever been since having him so I can't tell if his sleeping by my side all the time is because that is what I am doing or if it is because his off lab values are making him sick.

 

I feel so bad and guilty if I am causing Jack to be in distress, it makes me sick to my stomach. My vet and specialist have all said the same thing that Jack is very in tune with me so it is a real possibabilty that some of his behavior is because I am so sick.

 

Either way, more testing has been done, more waiting... and in the meantime I am Thanking God for Insurance. I have added up how much they have paid in the two and half years I have had Jack and I am over 11 years worth of premiums already. Pet Plan has been amazing for us and so far they have been pretty quick at paying us back.

Hi, Jennifer!  We have not been able to spend much time on DK lately since we are taking care of our Mom full time (and Kathy is back to work full time)  but when we do, we check to see how you are doing.  We missed lots in the last few months and are very upset to find out that Jack has not been feeling well.  We went through a similar situation with Sydney when she was 9 months old and we understand how painful it is for you not knowing a prognosis.  We never did find out what caused Sydney's serious illness.  Sydney bounced back and we were always very protective whenever she didn't seem herself.  Please know that we are thinking of you and Jack and wishing and hoping the best for both of you.  It's time you get a brake!  Let's hear some good news!  We have our fingers and paws crossed for you and are saying prayers for both of you!
