Yes. Everyone wants to feel at peace about Jess.
He had a party of visitors to witness the awakening. The stream of well-wishers created too much stimulation after a night of no sleep, causing him to hyperventilate.
It appears that Jess does not want to fall asleep – his eyes are darting all around the room, he is twisting his head to see what is around him. I’m sure he has figured out by now that his heart attack was severe since he is reminded he has been at Mayo for one month. I caution him calmly that although it may not feel like it, he is getting better. I demonstrate understanding towards discomfort and pain, however he must be patient. He nods his head in agreement. The fact that he is a logical and patient soul will help him through this.
For the last two days Jess has had my favorite nurse, Mini. Mini is from China, sometimes a little hard to understand her, but she is smart as a whip. She told Jess, “One week ago, you sickest man at Mayo – today, you miracle. Doctor very proud of you!”
I am proud too.
Phoebe, not so much. She is becoming a dominant dog and really exercising independence. She has learned to manipulate for treats, (from Hobbes, bark non stop until you get what you want), perfected the art of counter surfing, and getting rowdy with the sweet little dog walker, Jacob. He is so good to her and this is what he gets in return.
I feel like “one of those parents.”
Sweet Dreams. Hug and smooch your doodles – if you don’t have one, get one, they are really worth the antics. J, P, and H.
