Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Ok, I posted this this morning in the food group, but after reading Jennifer and Jack's post about gratitude I've calmed down a bit and I can see the humour in the situation afterall, even though it's now 7:30 and the poop smell still lingers. I thought I'd share it in my blog so everyone can get a kick out of it.

....

Just when I thought things were looking up, Sophie did something she's never done before. She pooped in bed - a runny wet poop. Not her bed mind you, MINE - while I was in it. yay! imagine, waking up at 6am to the stench of diarrhea. Not only that, but my doodle, being the considerate doodle that she is, tried not to get it on the bed, aimed her butt off the side and fired. But most of the poop ended up in the worst place, in the crack between the bed and beframe, which meant the only way to clean it out was to lift off the 10 ton matress and boxspring while the curious kitty tried to get in there and see what was lingering under the bed. Now, this may sound funny, and I may very well laugh at this hours from now, but it's 6:30am and I don't have much of a sense of humour right now. Not only am I incredibly dissapointed that all my efforts at helping her get better are failing, I'm now having to consider crating her again at night which I thought we were done with.

The smell of the poop is lingering, and permeating my whole apartment, making it unappetizing to put on a cup of coffee to ease my sanity while I contemplate what to do next. Admittedly, even though I was trying to rule out chicken as the culprit given that her last giardia test was negative, I made the mistake of running out of beef and giving her chicken again last night instead. I'm wondering if that did it. Or it could have been the green beans, since there were bits of undigested bean in the poop. To make matters stranger, as soon as I smelled the poop I sprang out of bed, and whisked Sophie outside where she proceeded to form two small but perfectly firm pieces of poop. Why I ask, did she manage to do the big D in my bed and the good stuff outside?? Argh!

I'm at my wits end. When will my sweet (but stinky) doodle baby be healthy? I'm so sad for her (and frustrated for me).

-------

Right now Sophie is sleeping in the most adorable position, belly up, on the floor and is completely blissfully unaware of my frustration. My silly little monkey doodle is the cutest thing in the whole world. Her goof ball antics make me laugh out loud even when I'm in a foul mood. Her gentle loving nature melts my heart.  There is nothing in my life more fulfilling then when she stands up on her back legs and wraps her front paws around my neck for a good ol'fashion doodle hug. When I look at her little furry face my heart fills with so much love and gratitude for all the happiness she has brought me. Even if she were to poop in bed every night I don't think that would change.

What a wonderful wake up call! Poor baby! I hope you figure out why she has an upset tummy. Doodle hugs DO melt your heart!

I know that this dosen't really compare, but Gavin barfed 10 times in two days this weekend.  He is such a privacy seeking dood, he goes to the furthest reaches of the house which is the carpeted area of the family room in the basement and chooses one of three locations that are in a straight line in front of the TV.  Not sure how many times I thanked the Bissol folks for the most indispensible piece of doodle equipment (The Spot Bot Pet) but it was alot!  Hope things improve for Sophie.

It's called unconditional love and that story says you are 100%.  Poor you, what a gross start to the day.  I do hope for both your sakes that Sophie is better soon.

Oh dear God YUCK... bleack and gross. I am sorry. If it is any consolation, at least she tried to get it off the bed and was thinking of you...

I hope her tummy gets better fast and that you find out what it is that is causing it. We have not had this experience yet, but if and when we do, I hope to handle it with as much grace as you...

You will laugh at this Sherri...you'll have to. I'm impressed that you can write about it with some humor at 6:30 in the morning! Not a morning person myself...and I have to agree that looking at the little culprit makes it easier to deal with! Hope your little Sophie Bear feels better soon.

Oh and Sherry, still want that second doodle this morning? :o)

Amen!

Seriously Daisy does nothing but bring joy, beyond the frustrations of anything that may go wrong that sweet fuzzy face is always there for me. I can see that Sophie does the same for you.
