Last week Winston went in with a pretty serious ear infection in both ears that hadn't been responding to medication.  In fact his ear infections have become quite chronic.  The vet became concerned enough about the situation, and the fact that they never seem to fully resolve, to send off some cultures and warn me that depending on the results, there is a chance Winston's ear canals would have to be removed.  Of course this sent me into fits of panicky chaos wavering from complete dread for…

I took Sophie and Winston camping last week for the first time. I was bit nervous about it but it went smoothly all things considered. I'm hiring a contractor to build me a customized doggie shower in the basement. Sounds a bit elaborate for someone who only a few months ago was complaining of how expensive home ownership is; but I swear it is really not going to be so pricey, and at this point it is becoming a bit of a necessity. Wow! When I was in Montreal the other day with Winston there was so much French around me that my mind got locked in French mode and when I was speaking to the receptionist and Winston was tugging on the leash to greet another dog I blurted out "Winston, assis!" (sit) and sure enough, he did! He understands French!!. Who knew??

Just a quick blog to say I finally got home last night and OMD what a reunion! As soon as the taxi dropped me off I bolted up the stairs and down the hall to my apartment where both of the dogs were with one of the sitters (and her doodle was there too). Well I burst through the door yelling "DOOOOOOOOODDDDDLLLLEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". There was a brief moment of surprise and then all heck broke loose.
