Spreading the word for a friend.. and venting..

Hello Ladies,

2011 has been keeping us busy -- new baby Nov 2010, someone hacked my paypal causing a lot of frustration and confusion, two back surgeries for me and a kidney infection, my best friend of 20 years lost her Dad to cancer at the young age of 57, my husbands Mom has been diagnosed with MS... *takes a deep breath*  Yea, it's been a busy time for us, 4 kids and our 2 dogs.   My puppies are desperately needing a good grooming - we had 2 weeks of snow and mud in Texas! and their coats look... embarrassing.  (oog!)

Anyhow.  I wanted to share this heartwarming story for a friend I've known since Highschool.  Her dog isn't a doodle -- she's a Pit Bull.  Jenny is active in the Pit Bull community campaigning for responsible ownership, adoption/rescue.. but her own beloved dog was diagnosed with Bone Marrow Lymphoma.  This amazing and loving Dog Mom hasn't given up.. she got a loan, applied to different charities for help, bought a website to share her story, she is even committed to running 5k's in a dog costume.  :)

Feel free to read her site and leave her some words of encouragement on her guestbook:

This is her press release:

(Please don't use this blog as a place to debate a Pitbulls right to live.  Please respect this is a Dog Mom fighting for a Dog she loves that has done no wrong.  She is a single lady and this dog is her companion, she's making huge sacrifices to see Sophie through this knowing it may only get them another 6 months.  Even if Pit Bulls aren't your thing, if you're here you can understand the irrational love a person can feel for their dog.)

I considered her story heart warming and wanted to share.  Give your dogs a nice long hug.

Heather Thanks for posting this.  I made a small donation to Sophie's fund in memory of our beagle Sherlock who lost his battle to cancer in January.

How amazing and wonderfully heartwarming. How kind of you to take the time to share it for her and with us.  I am so sorry for your troubles and just hope that you have reached your quota for the next 10 years!

I am so sorry to hear of all troubles. And of course Sadie is dear to your friend. I hope she has a good response. Some human lymphomas go on for many years without much trouble.

Would you believe all of that has happened within the last 3 months - MOST since 2011 started.  I prefer to think we're getting all the bad stuff out of the way right at the beginning!   ;)  It could be worse, it could always be worse -- and I know there are others going through much worse then we are.

Jenny's story really is amazing - and she is going through so much to get her story heard, raise awareness and get as much time with Sophie as she can.  Thank you ladies for all your kind and supportive words!

My friend has two rescue bullies, is a vet tech and is very active in the bully community.  I will share your links with her.  Thanks!

All I could say was  "Wow" when I read about your last year! OMG woman!!! I'm sincerely hoping that 2011 is a fabulous year for all of you!!

Your friend is quite an amazing lady!!  One of our last dogs was a pitbull mix and I have to admit I have a little soft spot for them!! :)

What a year for you.  This is a good place to vent - I have done it before myself.

I agree with Donna - you are a good friend to share your friend's story.  I hope things get better for her companion and I don't care what kind of dog he is!

Here's to 2011 turning around for you :) HUGS
