Spring Days at Sunset Beach

The Two Doodles have had a good time at Sunset Beach this week! But Java Joe has been demonstrating some bad behaviors! This will have to be corrected immediately!

Joe is hyper. Super smart, but hyperactive to the max! I have known this since I took him to puppy class expecting him to be a star. Joe knew everything Capp knew when he was just 6 months, and Capp who is 6 months older had been through three levels of training. He was so obedient that I could tell him to "park it" at the Petsmart and he would sit as I walked all over the store. He would wait for me to return. Of course he was always under the watchful eye of the trainer who was just a few feet away in case he suddenly decided to be naughty and disobey. He never did!

Joe stayed at home while I took Capp to his classes. When Capp graduated I thought, well now it is Joe's turn. Joe already knew everything that Capp did because he watched and participated as we practiced at home. Pride can be a terrible human flaw, and I did have a lot of pride over what Joe knew.... so I took Joe to class expecting him to WOW everyone with his smart little self. I thought to myself, well, I have a puppy star on my hands. MY BAD! Joe was awful in the class. Too hyper to concentrate and was probably the poorest performer there.

Flash forward 15 months and you have Java Joe who is so hyper that when he greets another dog at the beach he goes nuts and reaches over and growls, barks and nips at his brother in his frustration. He wants off that leash to play and frolic! It is like he can't control himself! I get so embarrassed, and I know folks think I have a nasty dog. Joe isn't nasty or vicious; he just loses control of himself and goes nuts!

Today my husband said we need the dog whisperer. I think we do! I think we are going BACK to obedience training as soon as I can get it scheduled.
