Any Agnes Scott Scotties on Doodle Kisses?

I just have to wonder if there are any Agnes Scott alum on this network. My daughter will be going there in the fall, and we have found ALL Agnes Scott current students and alums wonderfully supportive of current and future students. Allie would choose a college with a DOG as the mascot. Seriously, Agnes Scott is an incredible school and wonderful opportunity for our daughter. The doodles are going to miss their favorite girl terribly!…

Spring Days at Sunset Beach

The Two Doodles have had a good time at Sunset Beach this week! But Java Joe has been demonstrating some bad behaviors! This will have to be corrected immediately!

Joe is hyper. Super smart, but hyperactive to the max! I have known this since I took him to puppy class expecting him to be a star. Joe knew everything Capp knew when he was just 6 months, and Capp who is 6 months older had been… Continue

Capp Is Now on Santa's Naughty List

Capp got himself on Santa's Naughty List today. I noticed the auto-close gate slightly ajar, and began to call the doodles. They are not allowed free reign of the house unless I am supervising. Joe came bouncing to me immediately when I called, but Capp took three calls before he came out of the dining room and into the foyer. Capp has this "Who Me" look that he uses when he has been naughty. He also puts himself into his "sit" position and pretends to look perfect.

Today all… Continue

A Day with Java Joe Doodles

Today I had a swimming race with Java Joe Doodles, and guess who won! He did. Joe loves the water, and he swims daily. Today when I jumped in he bounded down the steps after me and swam fast to me across the other side of the pool. When he got to where I was in the pool I shouted, "Let's race!" and proceeded to race him across the pool swimming fast and furiously. He would glance sideways at me as I tried to get the lead. Joe was determined to beat me back to the steps, and he did. He won by a… Continue

On Holiday with Thing 1 & Thing 2

I love the way the British use the word "on holiday." It sounds so much nicer than "on vacation" or "spring break” or even the new phrase "staycation." In reality my family with the exception of my husband is on "spring break" this week. The week has been anything BUT a holiday, vacation or even a break. Between the two teenagers, two doodles, and myself we have crammed these activities… Continue

Sunny Sunday in South Carolina

This afternoon I spent time in the backyard warming my skin with those great spring rays! It was 80 degrees today and very breezy. We have had an unusually cold winter in South Carolina this year, and I have spring fever as do my doods!

I gave the boys two raw-meaty bones this afternoon and sat in the deck chairs as they chewed the bones and enjoyed the breeze. Joe, who loves to swim, got into the pool with his raw-meaty bone in his mouth. He couldn't leave it on the deck or in the… Continue

Home with the Flu in the Company of Thing 1 & Thing 2

I have had the misfortune of getting the flu- even after taking a flu shot! So I have had an unexpected leave from work for the past three days!

During these past few days I have had a chance to observe the doods up close and personal in a way that I haven't before. You can observe a lot when you are too sick to get out of bed!

Here is what I learned:

1. SLEEPING & MORE SLEEPING

They sleep just about all morning.… Continue

Thing 2 No Longer Sheds!

Thing 2 aka Java Joe Doodle no longer sheds! Joe was a rehome. He had another life far, far away from the heat of sunny South Carolina. Joe 's first home was in Florida at Tegan Park, and when he was 8 weeks old he went to the Catskills of New York where he lived for 4 weeks. The owner had severe allergies and while she was not allergic to his fur, she was allergic when he licked her- which he liked to do!

Joe was given to my family and all we had to do was fly him to South Carolina.… Continue

Update on Tuffy SEAcreatures and Thing 1 & Thing 2

Well, within thirty minutes Capp had found a seam and began to chew the Tuffy SEAcreature. I looked at the tag and saw these words: This toy is not meant to be a chew toy.

I don't think there is any toy that is not a CHEW toy to a labradoodle!

Needless to say, I took the SEAcreature away until the doods can have supervised play!

New Toy for Thing 1 & Thing 2

Well, I bought what must be the 100th toy for the two doodles today. Let's see how long it lasts! Usually, a toy with a squeaker lasts less than 30 minutes. Today I got a Tuffy SEAcreature from Orvis. It is purple and cute. It has a squeaker in each arm. So far it is a big hit with Thing 1 & Thing 2 otherwise known as Capp and Joe. They love anything that both can get teeth latched firmly onto in order to pull, growl, and engage in a wild romping version of doggy tug-of-war!

I… Continue

Thing 1 & Thing 2

I came home yesterday and felt like the kids in the Dr. Seuss book who were visited by Thing 1 and Thing 2. My basket of books had been devoured by two rambunctious doodles. Just the basket- thank goodness, not the books!

It appeared to me a few weeks ago that these doodles had really out grown their crate. The crates are supposed to hold a dog up to 70 pounds, and can accommodate the Labrador breed. The problem with my doodles is that while they weigh just 35 pounds each, they have… Continue
