Stuart Ran his 1st 8k race!

Today Stuart ran his first 8k race, 4.97 miles.  Stuart has been running with his dad because he is like the energizer bunny - we can't wear him out.  Out of 150 runners he was the only dog!  Of course everyone thought he was totally awesome and he got lots of cheering and attention.  He even went to the after run breakfast and has some eggs, bacon and sausage.

Here is Stuart and his dad, hot on the trail of the lady with the big hooters smile.

Stuart didn't have his own race number but he was rockin the Halloween bandana and leash.

Jane, that's wonderful! You and your DH are really special people! Not only does Stuart look like he's having a ball as a furry competitor but I 'll bet he's making everyone smile! But you know I fell in love with the big guy when you shared the soulful pic of him in the chair. I hope there will be many more runs:)

@Jane - of course dh is a winner too!  His run could be faster but with Stuart, he lines up way to the back so that another runner won't trip over Stuart or his lease.  Gotta love a guy willing to do that!!!!  Many runners told us later that they would love to run with their dogs but theirs aren't leash trained!  Sure makes us feel that all the hard work is paying off!

Stuart is so FULL of energy that he runs almost every day.  Then he also walks, swims and chases his ball for an hour every evening.  He is impossible to wear out.   I'm not sure what we'd do if we lived back in the snow belt - train him to drag a sled?
