Summer Fun For Darwin

One of the best parts of summer is being able to head into the canyon to hike and play in the water! It's one of Darwin's favorite places to be, and we all come home tired and filthy. This is the first time we've been this year because it's closed for the winter and it takes a while for all of the vegetation to come back. I was completely blown away when we started driving in, it's beautiful!

We started with a picnic and Darwin enjoyed grazing and bird watching in the long grass

Then it was time to go on a hike to the water! He immediately jumped in and started swimming

Water has a curious effect on Darwin. It transforms his appearance from that of a fluffy cute Poodle mix into some kind of crazed sea creature. 

Exhausted and dirty, he jumped out came over to rub his wet self all over us

Then we headed to our favorite park to rinse off and sit in the shade for a while. Amazingly, their was an abandoned red beach ball, it was like Christmas for Darwin!

Though the ball's lifespan was short, we made the most of it.

Clean and mostly dry, it was time for us to head home, Darwin wanted to bring his new toy home with him of course

Now we are all home, tired and dry. Darwin is taking a nice recuperation nap. I think we may go camping next week, I think he will love it!

Oh my doodle.... Camilla, these pictures are stunning and I'm pretty sure that isn't even a perfect enough word to describe them. I always thought we have beautiful areas around here, but now I want a canyon !! Thanks for my mini vacation with Darwin. He is always entertaining, even in pictures !

Looks like fun!  Luna would LOVE that canyon.  So much space to run and play and beautiful water to swim in.
