Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Being the parent of a teenage doodle is hard sometimes. What are we to do with them. Last week the real son took Neely over to a friends house to play. Just for a few hours in the day. Neelys friend Jessie lives there. They love to play. Jessie's yard is covered in cedar trees. So they played outside in the snow and in around the trees. He came home a mess! He had half a tree imbedded into his fur! Not to mention that dog slobber acts like gel and fuses the tree bits into the fur semipermenently! Thank fully it was only slobber around a spot on his back about the size of Jessies' mouth and all over Neelys head. I spoke to him about going to friends any more if that is the way he is going to be coming home. He was very sorry as he held his head plunked on the arm of the couch as he splayed out too exhausted to argue. With the dog slobber head he looked very sad with his dreads just hanging like he just came out of the shower. I thought it got thru to him.
But no out he goes to see his friend again. He takes my son. My son gets too tired waiting to take Neely home that he fell asleep at the friends house. So since no one was around to supervise they stayed up all night and played! Thankfully he must have felt bad about all the tree parts in his coat and took our conversation seriously about that. But he did not heed the warning that staying up all night isnt good for you it will throw of your whole schedule. You will start not getting up in the morning! Losing motivation for training and good behaviour, this could be the start of a downward spiral.
He got home in the early hours and went straight to the couch. He never even so much as licked a speck of spit off himself before going to sleep. He couldn't even be bothered to lift his head when I greeted him that am. I got a grunt and that was all. Well excuse me. If you can sstay out all night and party you can just get up in the morning. So after poking and porodding he finally came into bed with me to have out morning snuggle and wrestlle play. Change of plans as he wasn't up to any of that. He got up plunked down sprawled on the bed groaned and went right back to sleep as i attempted to pet and get the few tree leaves out.
Not only is he got more slobber on him he is drenched in it. I swear thay they were doing things that they shouldn't have been doing. Why else would he come home in a state like that. I think that Jessie his friend could be a bad influence on him as I never seee her covered in slobber from him. They're always quick to blame the boy dogs for everything but let me tell you some of those little bitches are worse! He was certainly exhausted all day only moveing to get to another position to sleep in. He plunked on the floor so hard once he slide halfway under my bed with just his lower body sticking out. Tonight after work he disappeared into our room and slept on the bed. He knew we were dissappointed in him but know that his friend Jessie is older and should not be leading him astray! He is not to play at her house until I am sure her behaviour is on the up and up with my NEELY! Until then they will haave to play here.
You gotta watch these teenagers; They can turn on you like that.

I just shared this story with Guinness and he is so jealous of Neely. He has never been to a "sleepover" with a wayward older teenage girl, but he would really like to. He says he really likes the idea of the slobber too. He thinks this is exactly what teenagers are supposed to do...party all night, sleep all day, and totally ignore their parents. He just needs to figure out where the "party action" is around here.
