During the first week that we had the pups,Scrappy, the 10 week old started showing weakness in his hind legs. Within a couple of hrs he would not try to walk on them. My DH took him to the Vet the next day since I was out of town. She thought that it was something like the flu,so she put him on Antibiotics, drops for his ears, because of spots in them......the following Sunday he was getting worse so we took him to the Vet Emergency and they thought it might be puppy strangels,or an immunity problem. they then changed the meds......well, yesterday he was running a low fever again so I took him to the Vet again! This time we saw a different one in the group., She was very concerned . His eyes were now swollen, bad rash in ears, sores and blisters around mouth and starting near eyes!!! Very scary!! She ended up taking blood work, urine test, skin scaping, and bio of glands, due to swelling in one on his neck area......expenses.......whewwww......dont want to think about it..haha...my DH said, well there goes the new soft seat for the motorcycle.......but smiled as he said it...:)....We should get some of the test results back tomorrow. I will update when I know. Right now he is sleeping after running with Shaggy ( 13 weeks) in the kitchen, so he is feeling better....yeah........gotta love the little things!!!

Scrappy is doing fine now. There were a few times we werent sure he was going to make it. But now the only way you can tell he was sick is by some dark spots around his mouth where there were blisters and around his nose. The Vet thinks that his hair will grow back though....He is running circles around Shaggy outside and in the house. They are both a joy to us. Making us laugh everyday, enjoying them so much. Now to figure out how to get them to not pull on the leash so much and walk with us......:) help anyone? haha Thank you everyone for your concern, thoughts and prayers....it meant alot to us.

I am so sorry for you and for Scrappy. I hope the tests help you figure out what is wrong with him and lead to a speedy recovery.

thanks all. I am going to call the breeder as soon as I talk to the dr again. I want to be able to sound like I know what I am talking about...(that is a rare thing with 2 puppies underfoot right now)...haha...As soon as I hear something I will let you all know. Thanks again.

Sending hugs and get well wishes to Scrappy. I sure hope they can figure out what's wrong. I also highly recommend insurance. It is well worth it.

I am so sorry to hear this news. How frightening for you with a new puppy. I think it's a positive that he was running with Shaggy. Please keep us posted, and I'll be thinking all positive thoughts that it's nothing serious. I think checking with the Breeder is also a great idea.

Oh My!! That sounds scary, did you talk to the breeder to see if any thing happened like this before in any of their dogs? I hope he has a quick recovery ..SmileyCentral.com Hugs and kisses from Lilly

OMG how scary! I certainly hope they get it figured out so they can get him all better. Once you get him all patched up, you might want to look into some Pet Insurance. We just took out some for our two for just the "big things". Price isn't too bad. When you have 2, the chances are much greater that something big is going to come along. Particularly when they get bigger and start running and playing really hard in the back yard. Leg injuries happen so quickly! In the meantime, keep us posted! Doodle Hugs and Kisses from Lucy and Sophie!
