Just when I thought we were getting a handle on the chewing and poop eating, I come home to living room carpet strewn all over the room and about 2 inches wide by 18 inches long chewed carpet. Luckily it was right where the tile and carpet meet, so we were able to call a carpet man in to stretch the carpet and cover the tacking that was sticking up very dangerously for little baby feet to find.

That was Monday, call the carpet guy tues and he is coming Wed. Great. Go to the grocery store tues and she decides that one side of the carpet is just too delicious to stop there, and proceeds to the next. Again, so glad this guy is coming Wed.

Wed afternoon, carpet is getting stretched, doodles in the bedroom so they stay out of the way and I pay the carpet guy, let out the doodles and what do I find in the bedroom?????  Yup, she has pulled up the bedroom carpet and began chewing on it!!!!

None of this occurs while I can see her, so no use scolding. Out comes the Bitter Apple, the Cayene Pepper and another throw rug. So far since Wed we have had no more chewing on carpet, so maybe this combination is working.

As for the poop eating, it's gotten better we think, but we are removing it almost immediatly so it's hard to tell for sure until we leave her outside alone with it and see what she does.

Darn, I was getting so sure she was doing so much better with chewing and now this. GEEEZZZZ!

Yikes - that would be upsetting.  Rooney never chews carpet - Stuart had tried and we put a stop to it but in our master bedroom the carpet is a large rolled loop.  Stuart has pulled it in at least 3 different places so we have had to take toothpicks and push it back into place and then a drop of clue to hold it.  Grrrr.  That carpet new.

Do you think I could borrow Bella for a few days? I hate the carpeting in my family room and need her to help me to convince DH we must replace it. ;o)

OMD, naughty girl!  She's still so much of a puppy though....you may have to crate here when you can't be right there to watch during this phase.  She will get over it....that's the good news.

Naughty doodle-trust me we've been there and back with Chloe!

That's why God made them cute.  But, oh, what a nasty habit.  I'd have to show them carpet and say no.  Then I'd think about crating for awhile when you left.  These guys are sneaky, huh?

I'm giggling sympathetically here, Sue. What is it with these guys?! Lachlan's tried the molding (thankfully he doesn't think Bitter Apple is a condiment) and put the sofa into the "need to replace" column. I managed to get my cell phone out of his mouth the other day before any damage was done; wish I could say the same for my wallet. Brat!

Sue, It is a good thing that Bella is so darn cute, right? LOL Vern chewed a tiny piece of a hallway rug and we are getting two new rugs soon. I am hoping he is not saving himself for some really good rugs :)

I don't know if they get it but I will sometimes point out what some doodle has done. I point, as of late, to a hole freshly dug in the lawn. I ask, "Who did this?" I tell them that digging is bad. Does it help? Go know, but it makes me feel better. However if caught in the act ostracism to a crate ensues.

Thanks Lisa, misery loves company, but I do wish these guys would learn what is meant for dog chewing and what isn't.  The 50 dog toys and chews are and the walls, carpets and chairs are not!!!
