You've all been hearing that our Murph is getting to be a BIG boy. Well he could no longer fit in any of our dog beds without either his head or his "fanny" hanging off the side. So, when we were in Newport last week we headed for the Black Dog store. They had just what we needed....a huge bed for Murph that actually matched the bedroom. We brought it home thinking he would love it...NOPE, not so much. Here it is....nice right?

He refuses to sleep here....now he will only sleep on our bed, and preferably on my side of the bed. Here's the big guy...

Are you getting the idea that he thinks this bed is his?

Here he is on MY side...Trying to move him is almost impossible. He digs in and won't budge.

He's hates the couch pillows, but he's loving the ones on the bed....

This one is just perfect for his chin. It's hard to hold a big Doodle head up all day. A guy needs his rest.

While Murph is making himself very comfortable on Mom & Dad's bed, Guinness is just watching from the floor. He's too small to jump up there himself. Life is sad for the little guy, because Mom's not always around to get him up!

UPDATE:
I can't believe what just happened. We just went in to make our bed, and we found that Guinness had "marked" the corner of the bed coverings. From the position of the "pee" he must have lifted his leg and gone right on the bedspread and comforter at the corner of the bed. He has been marking outside for the past few weeks (since he learned how to lift his leg), but NEVER inside. How bizarre. I'm thinking this must be has way of saying that the bed is his "territory" which is probably stemming from frustration over the fact that Murphy can get up there whenever he wants, and Guinness can't. I need the stairs FAST. Anyone else have a Doodle that has marked things inside the house?

I love the pic with Murphy laying his head on the round pillow. If this were Lucy she would be sitting on it. She thinks she has to put all 67 lbs of her on top of any size pillow, the smaller the better!

I made the rounds today....TJ Maxx, Petco, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. I found the stairs at BB&B. The boys are at the groomers right now. I have to pick them up in a little while, and then I'll try to get a little video of Guinness (hopefully) using the stairs for the first time. Murph is in for a shock. Thanks for your great suggestions, everyone!

Knox doesn't want me to comment on what Guinness did, but he's thinking that Murphy looks awfully comfy in your bed! Knox sleeps on the hard tile floor, so he's a little green with envy!

Jane, I went to our TJ Maxx tonight and the pet stairs are on clearance for $39. It looked to me like the height of the steps was 18" and they are wood steps. My daughter's dog got right up on our bed the first time here and peed. He only did it that once, but that was enough for me. He also is a pro at going on our dog's beds. I have no solution other than get them a hotel room next time they are in town :) Good thing he is cute and I like him.

I'm thinking you could use the new dog bed.....provided your head or fanny don't hang over!

Awe... poor Guinness. Almost makes you feel worse when they are soooo good! That's funny about Darren! His wife grew up next door to us and my sisters were/are very good friends with her and her older sister. Me too - but they are about 5 and 7 years younger than me. I used to babysit for them. Their parents are still living next door to my parents.... funny how things cross paths in life. And..... "Go Guinness"!

I'm hitting the stores tomorrow while the Doods are being groomed. Shelly, we know Darren Kramer well around here...a very popular local newsman. I'll post pics of what I find. Maybe I can get video of Guinness getting up on the bed BY HIMSELF....won't that be a shock to Murph! Murphy's newest trick is to pounce on Guinness from on top of the bed, landing right on him and "flattening him". Poor Guinness needs all the help we can give him....he has the patience of a saint!

Oh... NOW I remember... Connecticut... right across the sound from US!!! I forgot.. fellow northeasterner! :O)
Hmmm... I think one of my sisters' friends live there now... her husband is actually a newsman on the local news channel in Connecticut (Darren Kramer????)

Yeah... They have all sorts of 'steps' from kid type ones to ones for bedrooms - like a step stool... also - bed, bath and beyond had some like that too.... we get coupons in the mail every Sunday for BB&B, perhaps you do too.... have to re-check on where you are... or google it and there's coupons on line too.... can't wait to see what you found! Happy shopping!!!

I'd look at Target's "Shabby Chic" line, too. They might have a small bench or footstool that would work. I had an upholstered bench at the foot of my bed and my miniature poodle, who was about Guinness's size, had no trouble using it to get on & off the bed. I know they have a storage ottoman in the line that comes in colors that would work with your room, but it's kind of pricey for a doodle step-stool, lol.
