Poor Bexter!  His favorite resting spot WAS the register on the office floor near me (while I am computer-socializing on DK).  Yesterday, he was resting there and jumped up frantically crying out and running under my computer desk.  Of course, I freaked out!  I looked down and his collar tag had gotten caught between 2 of the slabs of the register cover thingy and as he freaked out & jumped up, it was still attached to his collar hanging there in front of him (almost as big as he is really).  I quickly undid his collar to get the thing off him & then easily got the tag out from where it was stuck.  Ever since that happened though, he will NOT lay down over there.  Is he smart or what?  I am sad for him though.  Now he lays down on the hardwood floor outside my office where there is a basement door which has cold air flowing out under the door crack.  Whenever I used to get ready (shower, etc) he would lay on the register in the bathroom too, but now will NOT go near it.  Who said dogs can't generalize?  Poor little guy.  He's been traumatized.

Do any of your dogs have a fear of unusual things?

It was one of these stories that made me buy the Boomerang tag for Riley so that nothing is dangling from his collar.  The tag attaches flat to the collar and is really easy to attach they also were very reasonable and delivered very fast.

The same thing happened to Phoebe as well only I struggled for a short while trying to unclasp her collar.  She was terribly upset as was I.  To this day, she will walk around all the registers in the house!  Once bitten, twice shy...they are so smart!

Traci, I actually bought the hula hoops for nieces and got them out one day and found out they do not like them. I take only Fudge's collar off because Vern tugs on it when they are playing, but after she escaped our yard one day, I feel better with the collar and tags on. There are collars where you can have the information printed directly on it and also tag protectors. I think people mentioned them in that blog I sent you!! Good luck!!!

Dot, what about rabies tag information?  We get fined if we don't have it on the collar when out.

Ethel was terrified of the "window monsters" as we called them.  She went nuts if she saw our reflections in the sliding door once it got dark out.

My dogs do not wear collars in the house, not only for safety, but they matt really bad around the next if they wear them all the time.

Ya know, we tried the "naked in house" bit but no matter what door we were going out of the collar was at the other. I didn't care so much but DH was easily annoyed - ha ha. Usually it was me who took it off and him that needed it back on.

Oh Well, she survived and it hasn't happened again since we put a smaller ring on her tags.

KoKo got her tags caught in the register too.  She was lying on top of the register and started to whimper so I thought she was having a bad dream.  When I called her name she just whimpered more and that's not like her at all.  When I went to see what the problem was I discovered her two tags were caught and she couldn't move without choking herself.  I took her collar off and she took off while I struggled to release the tags.  I figured that this was just a fluke and it wouldn't happen again.  About a week later it happened again.  I have ordered a new collar that has her info on the collar so she won't have to wear tags.

Maybe I shouldn't have him wear his collar in the house.  Do you all let your dogs wear their collars?  Maybe he'd get it caught on other things & hurt himself.  Didn't think of that!

Peri has a fear of anything small on wheels. Bicycles, skateboards, etc...she hates them and barks at them!

BTW Peri always lays on the hardwood on top of the air vet...
