I figured out why the thought of Father’s Day excites me so.
It’s the planning and scheming to make a whole lot of something with a whole lot of nothing for someone who deserves the world…
The other week, I watched DH search frantically for a particular pair of sandals. He must have looked everywhere about three times, before asking me if I knew of their location.
I pawsitively hated to answer, because I knew exactly where the sandals had gone:
“What had happened was”….
While vacationing and visiting family last summer, DH’s father commented on how soft and comfortable the shoes looked. DH immediately took them off, let his dad try them on, and told him to keep them. You should have seen my father in law “strut his stuff” in his new sandals. It was a pawsome day.
I had no recourse but to remind DH of that moment, and let’s just say it got rather quiet in the room for a few minutes. This year would be our first Father’s Day without Daddy.
With that said, you now know what I’m thinking. That’s right – I’ve got to find another pair of those sandals.
By Friday my mission was complete. I brought them into the house in a grocery bag, DH was non the wiser…
Saturday morning DH drove off bright and early traveling from VA to Williamsport PA.
Some of you might remember reading DOODLES AND THE 1955 CANNON STREET ALL STARS. Well the selfless efforts of my father in law and many others had landed them the home run of a lifetime. A place in the new Little League Museum…
With the entire day to do Father’s Day “prep-work”, The Boys and I started our walk and ran into a neighborhood romp – it was great…
Mila was so happy to see Leo…
Harley got some quality time with her too…
Spontaneous fun for the pets, contagious laughter for the parents, and not even 8:30 in the morning yet!…
With DH long gone and breakfast out of the way, it was time to wrap the sandals box. From these photos you can see I had more than enough help…
But the poor tissue paper didn’t stand a chance…
By noon, Leo was ready for his nap. He left me in the kitchen to continue slicing and dicing and retreated to his wall and stayed there a good little while…
Sunday was a great day spent with the kids, the doods, and dad. Harley is our family’s official“unwrapping gift machine.” You point him in the direction and he goes at it…
And he went at it…
For what seemed forever…
And when you call his name…
He looks at you as if to say “what’s wrong?”…
I love Father’s Day! It’s a day for me to give back to the man that really made all this love happen…
The rest of the day was just fun – Leo played….
Harley loved….
And the sandals fit!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend, and your week get’s even better! Thanks for reading…
