Debbie & Mya came here yesterday and we took all the girls in my car to the local Deli for lunch. The back of the truck was open, all 3 girls waited so patiently for us to leash them up. We started walking to the deli and some num-nut older man stops us and says "why would you have this dog with these 2 beautiful Poodles". Dumbfounded, I answered "they are all labradoodles" and continued on our way.

I couldn't say anything else - I was in shock! I guess it was lucky for me I was because I probably would have has some very special words for the 'human'.

Debbie and I just sat at our table for a few minutes in disbelief!

Can you believe the gall of this human?? To make a stupid statement about a face like this??? Guess he is just another purebred snob but boy, did he get that wrong all the way around!

Funny, yesterday I took the doodles to Home Depot. In the store several employees greeted them enthusuastically. One said she had a doodle. After I paid I walked outside to go into the garden dept. A man on a forklift practically shouted at me that no dogs were allowed on the floor. Biting my tongue, I didn't ask if they were allowed on the ceiling. I merely said we were leaving. And we did.

Thanks Jane - I know Samantha has the most gorgeous face but I get so defensive about her because so many people tell me she is fat - her body is true Chocolate Lab with longer hair. Not many people guess she is a Doodle - they only know of a doodle that looks like a poodle. It does open up discussions about the allergy and shedding myth to those who really want to understand about doodles - which is great!

Joe - you are so lucky to get chewed out for not having Lily with you!!! Here in 'liberal' (I am not talking politics) Home Depot and Lowes won't let the girls past the garden department! I have to go inside to get a new resin pot for the front and I won't go there because they will give me a hard time! 'd- - -k heads!

Maybe we need to change this discussion and add 'adjectives' that we use to describe 'Mr. Numb Nuts'. We all could use some laughs!

I'm like Nancie's husband in that I like to take Gus and Lilly with me when I go to Lowes. Well yesterday I had a different experience. I actually got chewed out by a couple employees. Want to know why?? Because I only had Gus with me!!! They were upset because I had left Lilly at home.

Ah ha...another person who uses the word "numb nuts"!!! One of my favorite sayings. My husband had a similar incident at Home Depot. He always takes Gracie Doodle with him when he goes. My husband was standing in an aisle looking at something on the shelf and this man walks by and says "geez, why would you want to bring a DOG with you?" My husband said "I love having her with me...she makes me happy" and he then said to the man "you should get a dog...it might make you a happier person!" The man glares at him and mumbles...I have one at home and off he goes. WTD!!!! My other favorite word is "d - - k weed"!! Where do these people come from anyway???

And Samantha started it all! She is a gem and beautiful. This is insulting but funny also because they are all doodles. People really notice Clancy, stop us, fawn over him, etc - then they say our little poodle is cute too, as they walk away!

you both are so right - can't fix stupid and certainly would be afraid of saying something about some purebreds I have seen.
I have changed my mind about 'mutts' since Samantha - I think they each bring something from their 'purebred' genes that make them beautiful - some more on the inside than out - WOL!!!
Have you noticed that the 'butt ugly' ones usually resemble their dogs!

Definitely rude, definitely insulting! Yet I can't help but want to laugh (at HIM) thinking of the irony of his statement. There are pure breeds I think are butt ugly, but I don't go around telling their owners I think so...totally not cool!

I think I would have been speechless, too. And really, nothing you could say would have made a difference anyway. You can't fix stupid.

Thanks Andy!! I totally agree - if Samantha doesn't like someone or another dog, I go with her opinion all the time. She hasn't steered me wrong yet!

S - the only 'sick'em' Samantha would ever do is to a ball! and even with a ball, she is so gentle!
