The Grass is Always Greener or How to Create a Monster Without Really Trying

A while back I started adding a dab of cat food as a topper on Tara's meals. Of course she thought this was THE BEST and quickly stopped eating her meals unless they had the cat food topper on them!  Recently I bought a can of TOTW dog food and thought I would try using it to replace the cat food topper.  WELL,  when the cat smelled the canned dog food SHE wanted to try it! Soooo....I put a little on her food.  You know where this is going...

 

Now I have a DOG that won't eat her food without a CAT food topper AND

A CAT that won't eat her food without a DOG food topper!!!

 

OMD! I guess the grass really is greener on the other side of the pet food aisle!!!

Carol, remember that old saying about cats? They don't have owners, they have staff!  And as you said, in my case it is WELL TRAINED staff!

 

Jennifer, how does this happen?  When I got these animals (or did they get me?) I swore I was going to be the one in charge THIS TIME!!  :(  Famous last words I guess...

Sounds like Ricki is a well trained doodle/kitty mom!    Our pets are more like humans than many of us realize!

Kaylin- I have played that bone game with 2 dogs before too! WTD?? Hey, guys the bones are identical!!! LOL!

It is nice that our fur companions are so easily pleased! Wish my DH would settle for a can of cat food! LOL!

Donna I think that means they are toppers top dog and toppers top cat in the household! You know where that leaves me!

My MILs dog Abbey always wants the bone Cooper is chewing and will steal it. Cooper gets upset, so I give her the other bone Abbey was chewing. of course Abbey then wants that bone, and on and on it goes. its exhausting!

 

I too sometimes share a can of cat food or a can of dog food between my 3 cats, 1 dog and my MILs dog - I small can for 160lbs of animals! Makes their day!

I guess what we have here is a catch 22 sitution, with Tara and the cat coming out on toppers top.
