For my 12 week old doodle puppy Copernicus, every morning starts exactly the same. He wakes up by 6:30 and rustles around until I finally drag myself out of bed. When I open the door to his crate, he stretches, shakes, and begins to trot behind me down the stairs. And then comes my favorite part. When he gets to the second to last stair, he pauses, yawns one more time, and then takes one grand, joyful leap into his day.

I’ve never once seen this pup touch that bottom step.

It’s amazing to me how this small ball of fluff could muster so much enthusiasm for the day. Doesn’t he know it’s going to be an awful lot like yesterday? And tomorrow?

But then I realize that, to him, it’s not just another day. Today will be filled with new adventures, new sounds, new things to chew up when no one’s looking. This is going to be the most exciting day of his life, and he can’t believe his luck that’s it’s here, that it’s happening right this second!

Do you ever wonder what your day might look like if you approached it with the same enthusiasm as your doodle?

My scrambled eggs wouldn’t just be breakfast. They’d be the best darn eggs I’ve ever had in my life!! I’m serious, guys!! You have got to try these!!! Oh geez, are they gone already?

I wouldn’t just have a new batch of unread emails. I’d have an inbox full of insanely amazing opportunities!! No way! I got an email from her?! I LOVE that girl!! Oh my gosh, YES, I will totally go to your awesome event!!

I wouldn’t just be reluctantly putting on my gym shoes in order to squeeze in a workout before lunch. I’d be suiting up for a heart-pumping extravaganza of calorie-torching delight!! And did I mention that chatting with the staff at my gym is like the THE BEST THING EVER?! Oh my gosh! It’s an abs day!! I LOVE abs day!

Part of me thinks it sounds exhausting. Who could possibly be that excited all the time?

But then again…could I stand to be a little bit more jazzed when I wake up in the morning? Could I maybe find a few extra moments throughout the day to appreciate the lovely weather, the scrumptious sandwich on my plate, and the sweet neighbors who ask me about my day?

I think the answer just might be yes.

This is absolutely adorable!  We all need this reminder once in a while :)

Awwww...I can just see Copernicus making that happy leap!  Do you always call him Copericus or does he have a nickname?  Love that "It's an abs day!!  I LOVE abs day!"  LOL

What a lovely blog, and the picture is beautiful. I am not now, nor will I ever be a morning person but I have always envied those who are. I do look forward to the day and usually go to sleep while planning what I will do tomorrow, it doesn't always happen but "C'est La Vie".

Very nice blog. I must admit, since I got my dog, I really do have fun things to look forward to each day.  No, not as much enthusiasm, but still, the feelings mutual.   Coming home, cuddling in bed, enjoying the outdoors, loving walks...

This is so wonderful!  Thanks for the great reminder that every day is a special one!  I will always think of this when I look at my doodles face and try to imagine what she is thinking.  I wish I could frame that picture and quote so I could see it every morning!

"Oh my gosh! It’s an abs day!! I LOVE abs day!"

You will never EVER hear that coming out of my mouth.

Stan starts the day with a really long stretch from the top step down to the patio.  He then slowly meanders out to the grass only to come back in and wait to be fed.  When the food hits the bowl is his first real excitement of the day.  Yea, I could get excited about food so count me in on the getting jazzed department!

Sometimes, but only in the morning, I wish I were a morning person : ) Copernicus is so cute.

That beats Luna's outlook on morning as a puppy ;)  She was always of the "I have to get up!? already!?" variety.  Now though she paws me in the face to wake me up and heads straight for the stairs after rolling around making "wookie" noises on the carpet.

I'm trying to be enthusiastic about work this morning, it's my first day back after a long vacation :p
