The Rosco - Water - Pee Experiment CONTINUES

Someone had suggested I try giving Rosco diluted broth to encourage him to drink more earlier in the day.

Today after I had used up a can of tuna for me and Clark...I had an idea! Since there was a smidgen of tuna left in the can (just enough to make a dog want to lick out the can) I rinsed the can into a doggy water bowl and then added more water and after some re-assurance that YES the tuna water was for HIM... Rosco drank that up with glee!

So tomorrow I will buy some bone-in chicken or a chicken neck or something meat-ish and make a no sodium broth with carrots and celery and give it to him during the day...hmmm...let's see if this influences his night time drinking!

Moose and Mica love the water from the tuna cans, but so do my cats, so everyone has to share. I never even though to add extra water to it to stretch it out a bit. I'll do that next time so they feel like they are getting more of the treat. If there is a Trader Joe's near you they have some wonderful organic broths. I'm not sure what the sodium content is though. I use the vegetable broth if I make dog cookies rather than the water in the recipe. Let us know how the water intake goes. Sounds promising so far.

5am IS early but better 5a than 2am and Clark get getting up to let him out is so much better than you getting up! What a guy - even on his brithday!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you that eventaully he will sleep a bit longer.

LOL Cam! His last drink last night was about 6:30 PM. He woke me up in the middle of the night, but he seemed mostly to be complaining about cass being in his way...so I made her move and made him lie down again. Then he woke up again a little after 5AM (reeeeeally early for us) and Clark let him out to pee.

I am so sorry I didnt think of this earlier - when I cook for Samantha I boil chicken. She LOVES the broth and drinks that first even before she takes a bite of the chicken! I told DH tonight the reason I give it to her is because I have noticed that since she is not out playing as much in the cold as we did in warmer weather, she doesn't drink as much. I know how much she drinks with the broth.
