The Traveling Adventures of Rua & her sick Momma

Haven't spent much time on DK lately...have been either traveling or sick.  Please accept my belated thanks for all of the birthday wishes and condolences on the passing of my Daddy.  They were greatly appreciated.

 

It started at Christmas when we drove north to Minnesota to spend Christmas with my DH's family.  Rua truly is an awesome traveler (already had done the same trip at Thanksgiving), though, I must say it was not easy to try to "potty" her in 1 foot of snow.  We stayed at my SIL's...her husband and son were sick...so, the Monday after Christmas I came down with their colds.

 

Fast forward to January 20th - 25th.  Rua and I flew out to California (San Mateo...south of San Francisco) for a visit back home to say goodbye to my father before he died.  It was so wonderful to get to see him and it was really special to me that he got to meet Rua.  I can still remember the joy in his voice as he talked to her.  Speaking of Rua, she was an awesome traveler on the plane.  As we deplaned, people couldn't believe that a puppy had been under their seat the whole time.  We met up with 3 other DK's http://www.doodlekisses.com/photo/albums/san-mateo-romp-jan-24-2011 for a little romp at the dog park at Seal Point Park.  So, guess who got sick again!  I ended up with another cold.

 

The day before we were schedule to fly to Florida for my MIL's birthday, my father died (2/1).  Since he was donating his body to science and arrangements for a Memorial service hadn't been scheduled yet, the three of us flew to Florida.  Again, Rua was awesome.  As many of you know, Rooney (Jane & Rooney) and Rua have had a little thing going one from the beginning and we had scheduled a play date between Rooney & Rua.  The morning of the playdate, Jane called to say Rooney wasn't feeling well and probably had a cold.  We were all disappointed but didn't want to risk getting Rua sick.  Jane was so kind, though, and drove out to my MIL's condo for a visit.  Rooney had picked up a few gifts for Rua so she delivered them.  Note the picture below...there is a basket of toys overflowing on the fireplace hearth...notice the only two toys that she had out.  Yup, her new toys from Rooney.  Rooney also sent her over some Puppy Wellness treats, which also happen to be her favorites!

My ears were really plugged up from flying...and after we got back on Monday, 2/7, I couldn't shake it.  My DH was tired of me coughing.  So, I finally went to Urgent Care yesterday.  While I was waiting, one of the staff came out and sprayed Lysol...that set off a bad Asthma attack...they had to haul me in the back on put me on a Nebulizer with two different medications.  To make a long story short, I have an ear infection and bronchitis.  And, since they caused an asthma attack, I didn't have to pay for the office visit.  I got a shot and two prescriptions.  My cough medicine makes me loopy!!!!  I had my own little Yappy Hour last night! 

 

Well, time for my third nap of the day!!!!

Oh Dori, you certainly have been through a tough few weeks.  I'm so sorry.  The good part is that you have your beautiful Rua.  I hope that you start feeling better and that the difficult times are behind you.

Oh dear :(   Dori - please take care of yourself and get well soon!  Rooney is so happy that Rua loves her gifts!  She is a real beauty!  It was so nice to meet you both.  Rooney is waiting for next year!
