Three week countdown!

Lyric is due in exactly three weeks! She is so big I am beginning to think there are two litters in there--compared to last time, when she had 8, she seems bigger at this stage of the pregnancy. But, it is probably just my mind playing tricks on me.....she is eating well now that we found out that pregnant doggies LOVE Freshpet Select, which is refrigerated and expensive--I don't mind buying it for a month or so though if it keeps the weight on--she eats better after noon, so I feed her a bit in the morning then give her three smaller meals during the day and evening. Mattie and Rio are so jealous! They see her getting a bowl of food and give me such a look!! Hey, why not us????

We are now far enough along that I can lay my hand on her tummy and feel the pups moving around--love that! This litter should all be cream to white, so not much variety but I bet they will be cute--can't wait!

This is her third--I do want to add that Lyric is what I call a "princess mom"--she spends a lot of time with the pups for three weeks, then after that she feeds them and gets on her way--I do much more work than she does! She forgets all about them--no playing, no teaching, none of that--she just wants to go play in the yard--so litters are quite easy for her.

A nice couple who live just 10 miles away came to meet her today and are getting a pup--I am so thrilled that someone close by will have one of her babies--never happened before!

She will retire after this litter or possibly have one more and retire in the fall at the age of 5.

Such a sweet doodle mommy! It seems like the puppies are coming so fast I can't wait to see them.  Do you know when Lyric will retire?

Most likely Brucegirl--it is the last litter of her guardian home contract and then I can decide whether or not to have just one more and actually share in the profits of the sale--I have not decided because it is really based on her health and how easy it is for her to raise this litter--she is a very energetic dog and the litters have not bothered her at all so far -- so we shall see....
