Well, this has not been the best of vacations but I hope the rest will go smoothly.

First we hit the blizzard in Virginia and got stuck there for 2 days. Then we had several hours of white knuckle driving.

Then my granddaughter got sick and we ended up having to get medical attention. She had an ear and throat infection with the flu. She is on antibiotics and feeling much better. (Thank God). She couldn't eat, had a fever and was vomiting for 3 days.

Then my daughter got a pain in her side that wouldn't go away. It got worse and she required medical attention. The clinic sent her to emergency. It turns out she has a swollen colon and a cyst on her kidney. This will have to be looked after when we get back to Canada. In the meantime, she is on painkillers. Hope it is not something serious but will just have to worry for now.

We went to Disney World and got rained on. My grandson can't stand rain on him so it wasn't a pleasant afternoon. He just wanted to leave.

Besides all the major problems, we have had many minor issues as well. Most of them are not worth mentioning but I have to share one story. I have been wanting to buy new runners since I got here and finally got some today. I came home and wore my new shoes to break them in. I let the dogs out back of the house and Finn ran towards the neighbours and did his business. I ran back to the house to grab a bag and proceded to the area where he had pooped. I couldn't find it so I kept walking around and around. Well I finally realized that I had found Finn's poop.......it was all over my new shoes. It took me an hour to get them clean. They still aren't as clean as I would like them so I went out and bought another pair of shoes today. I WILL have my shiny new shoes no matter what!!!!

I am going to enjoy the rest of my vacation. Nothing will stop me. Wish me luck.

Ugh - it's terrible when Murphy's Law won't give you a break! I wish you lots and lots of luck to have a wonderful, smooth, de-stressed vacation, with no more poopie shoes!

This does not sound like a fun, restful vacation at all. You know how kids say "do over" when they are playing? Perhaps you need a "do over" for your vacation. I hope your daughter and granddaughter are feeling well enough to enjoy themselves. Tell your grandson that sometimes people need to "build a bridge and get over it" so that everyone can have a good time. Take the hose to the nasty new shoes and proudly wear the new new ones!

You always look on the bright side - that's why I just love you! I hope the trip back is uneventful
