I sought advice recently in a discussion about Traveler protecting the bed (or me) from his visiting 'brother,' Grendel.  Here's a picture of the two of them sharing the bed.  Of course, there's no room for ME, but they're happy.  In fact, in the last 3-4 days I've discovered that Trav gets protective only when I'm actually IN the bed, and he's maybe very subtly protective at other times, like possibly trying to get between Gren and me when both dogs are milling around and I'm petting both of them, but the behavior then is so suble I'm not sure whether it's really happening.

I finally settled on making Trav get off the bed when Gren gets up, if he reacts to Gren jumping up.  It's so great to have DK to go to when I have dog situations!!!!  Unfortunately, Gren just had surgery yesterday for a tumor on his leg.  We haven't heard yet if it's cancer or benign.  My daughter is here with me for a while, with Gren here also, originally only for about a week as part of his new life as a 'shared custody' dog.  Not sure how long he'll be here now, with the tumor thing going on.

I'm glad your dilemma with Traveler is solved. I hope Grendel's tumor is benign.

Oh, yeah--they get real cozy, and Gren snores!  We're going a little crazy trying to keep the Gren's bandage in the right place and no scratching of the surgical site, etc.  So far, he hasn't needed the e-collar.

Not a creature was stirring...not even a doodle!  They look SO cozy! OMD!!  Sorry to hear about Gren's leg. Hope it turns out to be nothing, please keep us posted! Good job with the training!:)

Dang, Donna--I hadn't thought of that!  There IS more room if I'm not there too, crowding them.  :)  I've got my fingers crossed also for Gren--thanks.
