Guinness and Murph are both ALDs.....true Guinness is a mini, and Murph is a big guy, but they're both ALDs. I was thinking today that they are as different as day and night. Here are a few examples of what I mean...
Last night I gave each of them a marrow bone. Guinness took it right to his downstairs bed and dug in. Murph kind of dragged it around for a while, and then settled on the foyer rug with it. Guinness went first for the little pieces of meat on the outside and then got his little tongue right in to get the marrow. Murph started trying to eat it...he just kept chewing, not even noticing the marrow. Guinness had his bone sucked dry before Murph figured out that he'd have to use his tongue. I stopped even paying attention for a while and then Murphy came over with the bone and dropped it at my feet...he wanted me to throw it for him like a ball. Hello????? So I figured it was time to pick them up...but Guinness's was nowhere to be found. I looked everywhere...no bone. At bedtime I found that he had taken it upstairs and hid it under his bed....now that's planning ahead.
Example number two...we got these new things that go on the bottom of the rungs of our kitchen chairs so they don't scratch the floor. They look a little like balls. Guinness smelled them when we first put them on, and that was the end of it. Murph is convinced that the ARE balls, and he can't figure out how to get them off so he can play with them. They are making him crazy!
This morning we had a training session...back to the bike path. It was still wet and there were lots of earthworms. Murph decided he was a little tired at one point and laid right down....on top of the worms. Guinness seemed grossed out that he was even stepping on them. Of course, one got embedded into Murphy's fur....really embedded. I had to try to pull it off, but it was so stuck that I was only getting pieces of the worm. So we came home, and I planned to go back after all the worm "guts", but I had an errand to do first. When I got back they were gone....he must have chewed them off...EWWW.
So those are my boys. It's hard to believe that they could possibly be the same breed...such totally different temperaments. They keep me laughing.

Yup It is amazing, Huff sounds a little more like Murphy, but not in the marrowbown situation. I do not think he woud lay in worms though.
lol..this cracked me up..just like kids, ya wonder how they can be so different from the same mom and dad..
Jack and Molly are as different as night and day.. Total opposite, Jack hates water, hates getting dirty, likes to sleep in one spot, is a picky eater and a mama's boy.
Molly Rose's nick name at the dog part is pig pen, She looks for mud to roll in, any water and she is going to find it and splash in it, she will eat anything including things she should not eat.... she is happy being outside by herself. Jack will not stay outside alone..
Two different doodles... equally loved..... same breeder, raised the same, trained the same, socialized the same....
I love that they keep you laughing... That is the best!!!
I awways say that about my 3 boys! The human ones lol.
Yup, just like our kids! My two children are as different as my two doods. Everyone is unique and loveable in their own right. tons of love to you and Murphy and Guinness.
Love this! So funny-Murph is all boy!!! isn't it great though that they are not the same? It shows how different thngs can be. People think I'll get another doodle I love this one so much and then they turn out to be opposite personalities. I love it!
I love BruceGirl's comments LOL....she nailed it big time! Yep, Murphy has been a challenge but the big LUG is totally charming!
Sounds like my two doodles who are not only both ALDs and the same size, but full brothers although not litter mates. Generally speaking Roo is like Murphy and Tigger is like Guiness, although I think Roo is a bit less of challenge than Murphy has been and Tigger a bit naughtier than Guiness. Interestingly I adopted Roo first, so it can't be an "birth(or adoption)order thing". Roo is very black and his fur is like velcro. He gets eye goobers an yesterday I picked one off of him that turned out to be a baby slug. Ugh!
lol! Seda sounds a little neurotic! I love that she has to have her baby with her to pee! These doodles and their quirks!
I have two ALD's as well. Webber is a Momma's boy and never goes far from me. He is obedient, and gives lots and lots of doodle kisses (and won't stop). I can take him anywhere off leash and not worry. Seda carries a stuffed animal out with her to pee. She barks at commercials on the TV and then grabs up her "baby" to keep it safe. She runs like the wind and doesn't listen when I call her back. She gives one or two kisses and then stops. She catches and eats bugs. She is the one that lays next to me when I am sick. They love each other.
