Banjo comes home on Saturday! I'm just so darned excited.....BUT....I have to admit there is a little bit of anxiety to go along with the excitement. I'm so glad to have found the DK Site as it's been so informative! However - some of the topics I've read have left me questioning my sanity........worms...diarrhea...(explosive diarrhea!)...ear infections....skin maladies....red lipstick!!!!.....possessiveness.....food allergies....car sickness.....separation anxiety.....
destroyed toys....hmmmmmmm.....uh oh....what have I gotten us into??? Our whole life is about to change dramatically ....what was I thinking???
.......to be continued.... : )

What have you gotten into???? Well.... first of all you've been "adopted" into a HUGE 'family" of many people, most of whom you'll ever lay eyes on or meet face to face... you are about to feel stress, anxiety, frustration and doubt, but you are not alone.. we have ALL been there and will be HERE for you....but MOST of all... you are about to know the unconditional love you get from Banjo, no matter how angry you get at him, how many times you've corrected him. Every time you walk in that door, he is going to greet you as if you've been gone for months. And that "my friend" is what you have gotten yourselves into! W-E-L-C-O-M-E!!! Can't wait to hear all about Banjo's arrival tomorrow!!

We've had various dogs over the past 35 years....I can honestly say I've never been this excited to bring a dog into our life. It's a wonderful time of life to add a dog. We have plenty of free time now without all of distractions of "daily" living...rushing here and there with this kid or that kid (although I loved that too!). Life now is pretty laid back ... maybe sometimes TOO laid back! A pup will add giant splash of sunshine! Just in time for spring!

Carol, your life is going to change, that is for sure, but it will change for the better...We have had dogs for 37 yrs, and I have loved all of them with all my heart, but when we got Oliver, I can't even put into words what this dog has done to my heart...He is the light of my day, lol, he is funny, he is always looking for trouble, but he loves both my husband and me unconditionaly, He is a big one, weighing in at 67 lbs and all fur, and sometimes we call him a big galoot, but we just love this guy, his smile , his face, the way he snuggles, he is wonderful...Now we also have a 12 1/2 yr old australian shep. that we love also, he is so good with Oliver, and we really got Ollie because Renny was very depressed after we lost his buddy of 13 1/2 yrs. We were devestated too, but this wonderful doodle has brought our lives back...You will have days that u might want to pull the hair out of your head, but this will pass, and the puppy days will go too quickly...But you will never regret the day you got Banjo, or the decison to get him...Just love and enjoy him, hug and kiss and suggle this boy...Of course u have to train him too, but enjoy that part too, and take lots of pictures...Sry I rambled, lol, but I just love my doodle.....

I'll spend today cleaning the house top to bottom....something tells me I won't care about the house once Banjo arrives (TOMORROW!!!!!). The DH thinks I'm cleaning to make a good impression on the new pup ; - ) !
We have food, snacks, toys, beds, crates, wipes, leash, collar, calming classical music on the iPod, blankies, baby gates, and wide OPEN arms and lots of kisses.....now we just need our little Banjo!!!

And one more thing...you will laugh. Every day your puppy will make you laugh. Just now Gavin cruised through the living room with not one, but two pair of underwear in his mouth - one belonging to DH and one belonging to me. Equal time you see.

Jane forgot to also say: sleepy puppy in the morning that takes a few steps then colapses on the floor like a frog dog, a puppy that follows you everwhere you go and would follow you to the end of the earth if that's where you wanted to go, a puppy that will lick you dry if you don't grab the towel quick enough out of the shower to do it yourself, a puppy that looks deeply into your eyes and cocks his head every so slightly first to the right, then to the left, the smell of puppy fur after being outside in the cold, watching everyones eyes light up when they see your adorable puff ball, a doodle puppy's love for children...okay someone stop me....

Sounds like parenthood! Throughout my pregnancy, I questioned the decision to get pregnant - was I stupid? How did I think I would be able to properly take care of a child? What did I know about raising kids? ........ and on and on.
As soon as you get that child, er I mean Banjo, all of the anxiety will vanish - well, not really but you won't question your decision to get him. That will be immediately resolved to be replaced by ="Oh my gosh, is that poo too much, right? Burp, what does that mean? Should I call the vet?" Naw to all of that - just go to doodlekisses and ask away.....

My husband said it best when we spend so much time playing with the dog. He said our life must have been really boring before Quincy came along. Jane and Guinness left out the part about a little puppy tongue licking your toes while you are typing away on your laptop. :)

It's important to realize we spend a lot of time discussing what can or has gone wrong than what is fine. My doodles have, KOW, been basically healthy except for very minor problems. Their behavioral problem, chewing things they should not or jumping have been relatively minor, and they are great. I think this is more often the case than not.
