Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I know, I havent been on here much for a long time! I do come on to read peoples discussions and blogs, and occasionally post in response, but truth is I have been so busy - working full time, and doing renovations on the house (we bought a house in january) (and I start another school course next month so have been "refreshing" my knowledge

Cooper finally has a yard (you can see her rolling in the snow in the below picture)

We have had new weeping tiles in the basement - a job that went from $2000 partial replacement to $7000 full replacement ,-  painted the entire main level, and dry walled the bathroom. Upstairs still needs doing, but we are taking a break!

Now the snow is finally melting  we are seeing whats in the back yard. It consists so far of lots of dog poop from the previous dog - a sheltie that couldnt be more then 25lbs but whos poops were twice the size of Coopers (at 70lbs). Goes to show the difference between raw diet and grocery store crap! oh and some bulbs are starting to grow - my guess is crocus and daffodil. :)

Cooper came in the house yesterday after her morning play (I say morning because its morning for us - we work late shifts so dont get up til around noon), and there was blood all over the floor. LOTS of blood. I ran to the car to get our first aid kit we bought when we did the epic drive from Vancouver BC to Ontario (see my page for that blog!) I got out a sterile pad and a human sticky bandage.  We couldnt find any cuts, though we washed her feet in the paw plunger (its muddy out there) and did some inspecting.

. The blood stopped pretty fast so we sprayed her feet with vetericyn and left it at that. She was running and playing as normal so we didnt worry too much.

Yesterday I started to sweep the driveway - there was so much tiny gravel we kept traipsing in the house that was driving me nuts. I also found lots of pieces of rusty, sharp metal, that were probably the culprit of coopers cut paw

Today we had a trip to the pet store and bought some pet bandages, and Cooper hung outside with us as we finished sweeping the drive.  She wasnt too playful but we assumed it was because she had been outside with me for hours the day before (and met the across the road neighbours medium australian labradoodle Theo) and then the trip to the pet store today tired her out. We took her outside for a play of fetch before it got dark, and while she would run (somewhat slower than usual) after her toy she walked back really slowly. This is unheard of from our usually "enthusiastic" doodle so we brought her inside.

Cooper lay down behind my computer chair, and I could hear her licking. So I roll her on her back (which she hates) and rested her head in my lap, and inspected. Surely enough, both front paw pads were cut. So she got bandaged up and is now feeling very sorry for herself! I told the lady at the pet store (who used to work with DH) that she needs to order some pink bandages, though Cooper now matches our bathroom flooring (which we havent got round to replacing yet).

Congratulations on your beautiful new home!  Hang in there Cooper you will be up and back outside soon. She looks so sad laying on the floor.  Hope she feels better soon!

Kaytlin, I'm so happy you have a house! Love the photos. Congratulations. Please give Cooper extra hugs from us. I'm sorry she is going through this. Hope you can remove the metal?

I am glad to hear from you again. I missed your posts.  Congratulations on your home purchase.  Poor Cooper but the bandages DO match your flooring.
