The longer we have Vern the more we are discovering he is a night owl. He has things he wants to get done every night and bedtime is not one of them. There are bones to chew, a yard to explore, a cat to bug, and you get the picture. Last night, he finally fell asleep and then my husband came to bed and he woke up ready to go. While I was trying to get him back in the sleepy mode by petting him, I could feel burrs up near his mouth and under his chin. Burrs that did not want to come out, so back on the lights came, and DH and I tried to extract these burrs. Vern was not liking this, so we decided to get a kong and fill it with peanut butter and then one of us could cut the burrs while he was enjoying his late night snack.

After we got the burrs out, I noticed the back of my husband's pj's had something brown all over his seat. So, I asked him if there was something he wanted to tell me and all he said was that somehow he had gotten peanut butter all over his pants. Ok, I am not sure how this happened, but if you knew my DH it is not that out of the ordinary. What was unusual, however, was that after I took both dogs out and got back into bed, Vern would still not settle. First, he came to my side of the bed and when I told him to lie down, he burped right in my face. Next, he went over to my husband's side of the bed and all of a sudden, the DH jumps and says, "Vern just goosed me right in the ass." Now, I am not a detective, but I put two and two together, and said to my DH, "tell me you are not still wearing the peanut butter pants and you did not crawl into these sheets with them on!" Absolute silence was the answer I received. Like my groundhog story, did I mention he is an engineer? So, it is too late to make a long story short, but after being goosed repeatedly by Vern and listening to me giggle, DH got up and changed his pants and Vern finally went to sleep.

Vern is now 71 pounds. He is huge and might need to cut down on the Peanut Butter.

Thanks for the post. I had a mental movie going the whole time I was reading. I was chuckling the whole time. What a great way to start a morning. Thanks!

Thank you....I had a good laugh at all the comments. I told him I wrote another blog about him and all he said was, "what did I do now?" I had to remind him, as if this was an everyday occurrence.
