The other day I went out and got Fudge and Vern identical bones. Vern gets so excited with anything new for about two minutes. As soon as he figures out Fudge has a bone or toy or anything, that is what he wants. Fudge uses this to her advantage and loves to sit close to him and chew away. Fudge is not a big chewer, but I swear if she knows Vern wants something she has, she makes sure to chew it just a little longer than usual. Vern will stop chewing his bone and lay his head down in the most pitiful fashion and act completely disinterested. When Fudge is done and drops the bone, all of a sudden Vern will leap into the air and grab whatever she just dropped. It never seems to bother Fudge and it is like some unspoken language worked out between them. Fudge will just grab something else and walk around with it and as soon as Vern notices it, it starts again. I had two daughters, close in age, and sometimes with Fudge and Vern, I feel like I have lived all this before with the older sibling teasing the younger one for a reaction and the younger one so predictable in her reactions.
Here is Fudge with her treasure.
And here is Vern....pitiful, pitiful, Vern
