I know many of us have had issues with dog parks, but there are some nice ones out there and I wanted to share that we live very close to one of the good ones. I hope it continues to be a positive experience for us as we are within walking distance of this park. It used to be the city landfill and the whole recreation center was built with all recycled materials, which I think was pretty creative and thrifty of the city to do.

It is elevated so that you have a 360 degree panaramic view of the surrounding neighborhood, which is where we live. Plus the surrounding mountains.

This is the Murphy and Bella Welcoming Committee as dogs come into the gate:

This is the little ol man that Bella looks for to get a free scratch from. She's such a flirt!

THey make lots of new friends.

"Not sure what this is mom, but it smells like a dog". Can I pick her up and see if she squeaks?"

Look Murph....This guy kinda looks like me.....

Well, guess we should head on home....over here mom!!!

And look, there's that scary dinasour, it doesn't fool me anymore, I know it's stuck in the sand and not gonna get me!

All in all, our trips to the park have been great adventures. Wish everyone had the same experiences.

Sue, your park looks lovely. I'm glad you have a safe place to take your doodles for some fun.

We would like to come again. Do let me know the dates.  Now that we are retired we aren't bound by the school year schedules.

Yes, Ned did have a good time! Hope that you can come back some time when we have another romp and bring Clancy for some fun. I will try to post all of the 2012 dates soon so maybe you can plan a visit?

Ned really enjoyed his visit to this park. Perhaps when he was there he was also influenced by the company he was with! teehee

Sue, is this the same park where the doodle romp is going to be on Oct. 8th?  We are planning on bringing the girls up, so I hope there is a good turnout.  My girls play so differently with doodles then they do other breeds.  Not sure why, but thought maybe it's because "Hey, you look like me!"

Every time I take my dogs to a different dog park, I spend my whole time thinking of the dog park that I would design.  None of the parks around here have anything but a wee bit of grass, and a lot of dirt.  No toys, nothing to climb on or jump over, just a square fenced area with not much shade. b.o.r.i.n.g.

Does anyone want to donate land so that I can make the most awesome dog park in Tucson, Az?

Sue your park looks very nice.  I love taking the boys to our dog park and they always have a great time.  One of the things that we've done is to have a Facebook page for the members.  We are able to post when we're going out so they can be sure to have a lot of friends to play with.  It also helps us to know when their might be dogs at the park that they don't play well with.  We've also been able to communicate with each other and the park dept. when there are problems.  If you want to check out our page it is Paul Ruster Dog Park

You are very lucky to have such a nice park. I have always thought that the problem with most dog parks are the people who do not follow the rules.

You are very lucky to be within walking distance of your dog park.  The two parks I frequent are too far, I wish there was one closer within walking distance because I would be there daily.  I am fortunate enough to only have good expierences so far with my doodles at the dog park, I hope it stays that way.  My biggest concern is catching something from other dogs.  My doodles are all up on their shots etc. but I still get nervous plus I have a OCD about germs :(
