Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We started construction on our pool this morning, and I have to admit, I am as excited for the doodles as I am for my grandchildren to begin enjoying it this summer. Okay, maybe the doodles were why I originally thought of adding a pool in the first place, it is so hot here in the summer that it is just torture sending them outside for anymore than a quick potty break and they need exercise! But DH wasn't having any of that logic. So with one grandson here and one on the way, it makes total sense to put one in for our grandbabies, right?
The doodles both did great today as strangers came and went bringing big backhoes and small dumptrucks into thier backyard. They have been curious all day, so I finally let them out to explore. Looks like we will be going out on leashes to go potty for a few weeks. This is one big hole!
The work begins at 6:15 this morning.
Measure out that doggie play step very carefully please.
What's going on mom? I get in trouble whenever I dig even a small hole in the yard. WTD?
Murphy is ready to dive in!

Thank you everyone, Yes it is nice to not have to think about alligators for once. We lived on fresh water in Fla for 22 years and it was an everyday occurrance to see a gator swim by the backyard.
The doodles are going to probably be in the pool more than any human, that's for sure. And the weather is a big factor as it is hard to survive the Az heat without a pool and we do get a good 5 months to use it, so it makes it worth it.
Tina, Surprise isn't too far away, do you ever come out to visit? No, we aren't having the pool and opted for the 18" deep shelf so the kids (and dogs) can play and rest on that and figured we'd all get more use out of that.
Sue, from digging yesterday to swimming - is about 5 weeks. Not bad. We have a date of Aug 5th or the supervisor owes DH a case of beer. However, if they finish on time, DH owes him one.
Dori, I will continue to take pictures, I'm with you, I love watching progress on big projects like this. And I'm sure there will be some "Doodley episodes" in the progress that will be fun to share. We already have some pretty muddy doodles around here. Bella used to be all white. She's looking a lot more like Murphy these days.
I'm jealous of two things, the pool and the fact that you don't have rocky soil. The doodles and grandkids are really going to enjoy that pool.
