Bella - "Leave it!"

As most of you know by now, my Bella-B eats EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. She is not particular either, but her favorite has always been tissue. We are a household of hidden wastebaskets, step-on lid containers in every room and hidden tissue boxes well out of reach. Visitors are "warned" about keeping their possessions like socks, combs, brushes, wallets, you name it, behind closed doors.

Well I am happy to report after months of working on planting tissue in her path and practicing "Leave it" Click and treat, she has finally got it! I can leave tissue on the floor and she will go over to it, maybe take a sniff and walk away every time. I would never have thought she'd do this a few months ago. I feel like such a proud mama! Now if I can just get her to stop eating her next favorite thing.....poop!

Thanks everyone. Yes treats are much better than poop too, but for some reason Bella finds it irresistable. I can get a pretty solid leave it for just about anything now, but when she's near poop it's like my command"leave it" must come out sounding like "swallow quick "  to her. Cuz it just dissapears in a flash.   Not sure why that is, I must be saying it wrong.

But thank you all for appreciating what a big achievement this is for my little girl. I was reminded by the Vet today that she really is still a baby. All 58 pds of her!!!

Your house sounds just like ours-except we don't eat poop! We have the same issue with tissue (hey that rhymes) We tried to leave it on the floor and teach her leave it, maybe we should try the click and treat also! Thanks for sharing! Congrats!!!
