We survived the storm....

I wanted to post a blog to check in....but more so to also encourage other DK members who live in the tri-state area to also check in after Hurricane Sandy.  We live in Sayreville, NJ  (I'm not sure why my profile says otherwise...have to change that)  which is very close to Raritan Bay/ River.  While we are so fortunate, others in my area are not.  We sustained no damage and obviously have power and heat back on.  As we are all getting power back and watching the news for the first time in days, it is terrifying to see what has happened to our state and I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this whole situation...people looting homes, literally fighting over gas at the few stations that are open.....it's mayhem.   My husband and his family have a small house in LBI (Holgate section) and are praying that there is still a house there to return to.  I hope those of you in the area are okay......please check in!    

P.S.  The doods made it through the storm beautifully....we were lucky to be able to let them out during the few times that the rain actually stopped....we were afraid that they would blow away though!! Those rain ponchos weren't too great, but we tried!

Glad you are o.k.  We were lucky here in Massachusetts but my daughter lives in NYC and she went to NJ to stay with her Uncle but they are out of power too and they had a big tree land on their house.  Everyone is fine and my daughter came home here to MA last night and hopes to get back to the city Sunday.

So we are lucky and my heart goes out to all the people who lost everything and to families who lost loved ones.

Glad to hear everyones ok.  We got lucky down here in the part of Maryland we live in. Only a lot of rain and wind.
