Who knew that weeding could be so dangerous?? We don't put any chemicals on the backyard lawn because of the girls. Needless to say, clover and some other weed has just taken over. I hate them so I spend hours sitting on the lawn with a small trash bucket and pick the weeds. I happen to enjoy the quiet time - just me and the weeds.

Should be safe, right?? I wish I had pictures but since I don't, try visualizing this scene.

Me sitting on the lawn

Throwing the ball with Samantha

Charli is bored so she tries to get Samantha engaged to play

Charli finally gets her way and the girls do some running, wrestling and some more running. They are having a blast!! It is so sweet to watch.

Until...

their running is headed straight towards an unbeknownst to me. See where I am heading? - no pun intended. Samantha is app 70 lbs, Charli app 45lbs. The impact with my head and shoulders was not a pretty sound.

The moral of this story, 2 running, happy, playing doodles must be watched!

My headache is finally starting to subside.

Finnegan took off with the huge pile of weeds in his mouth and they ended up ALL over the lawn. Oh well, he had fun! Me...not so much, but just had to laugh!!!

So funny! (sorry) I can just picture you sitting there and I really canbecause my husband does this with the weeds too. I bet they planned it so you would play with them! Myla took me out the other day, I was walking over a baby gate (they like to eat wallpaper) and she walked under the one foot that was over and the gate came crashing down on top of me-my husband comes in and I'm laying there with a gate on me and 2 scared doodles staring at me. My neck is still hurting. These doodles are dangerous! Hope you feel better!

Oh Adrianne, I know just what you mean.  I had a "shiner" for a few weeks this Winter from a collision with Murphy.  He knocked me clear across the room.  Hope you feel better, and remember Doodles can be hazardous to your health!

Nothing worse than a full body slam. I have to be careful when they are playing out front, because Vern is like a plow horse. I hope you are feeling better.

I think I am going to make this hard lesson learned into a training session. My tool bag will have gloves, weeding tools and Chicken Zukes. Down stay & pull weeds, let them play, and start over again. It will take longer to get weeds out but the girls will have better recall and down stays. There is always a silver lining!

Oh, I am so sorry.  When we go to dog parks and I take pictures, I never see the dogs coming at me and often get clipped.  Mostly I tweak my knee for a bit, but whoa, I would be hurting if I received a full body slam like you did.  I guess the moral is  to let the weeds grow!

Hope you are feeling better, maybe next time you should wear a helmet. :>) I want to know who taught the dandelions to duck when the lawn mower comes along.

PS Learn to love the weeds for the biodiversity and they don't look too bad when mowed : )

I know what you mean. When my two start chasing one another I hid near a tree or something. I really am scared of being bowled over. Glad you weren't seriously hurt.
