Last Wednesday we were told to “brace ourselves” for snow accumulations ranging anywhere from 12-15 inches. I tried to resist, but finally succumbed to the grocery store madness, and ran out that afternoon to grab a few items “just in case.”
As I hung up my coat and unpacked my “goodies” I went through a mental check list to ensure I hadn’t forgotten anything I needed to do. Nope! Couldn’t think of a thing.
In my mind, everything was “good to go”, so around 7:30pm as the first few flakes started to fall, I walked around the house humming “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”
Bright and early Thursday morning (as predicted), everything outside was white! Snowsuits on – we headed out for our morning walk. As soon as the garage door opened, Leo bolted for the yard and my heart sank….
Wilson, Wilson where’s Wilson? I had forgotten to bring his beloved ball inside the garage on Wednesday! Leo was frantic! He ran around in circles searching…
He even tried to look under the snow…
I felt so bad. The snow was wet, heavy and deep. I tried to kick it away from the fence thinking I could feel it with my boot. Poor Leo, he walked behind my every step…
We never found it.
Although the streets were somewhat clear, the roads were icy and treacherous. Temperatures were slightly lower, so the snow – now covered with a blanket of ice – made it even more challenging to continue our search and rescue mission.
It was a somber walk:
Temperature wise, Saturday was no better than Friday. Since there are three Wilson’s somewhere on the property, we decided to try the backyard….
At one point we started diving…
This reminded me of the scene in the movie “Cast Away” when Chuck Nolan (Tom Hanks character) cries out: “Don’t worry Wilson, I’ll do all the paddling digging. You just hang on”…
Still nothing…
It’s still cold, the snows still somewhat frozen on top, and I’ve got one lonely doodle waiting and watching for his Wilson to show up…
We’re supposed to see warmer temperatures by the end of the week. What a reunion it will be – I’ll keep you posted…

Cathy, so happy that Wilson is back. I love looking at everyone's "snow" pictures but am glad that we don't have snow here in California, normally. I think we were close to 70 degrees today, but rain is in the forecast next week, which we need due to our drought situation. So happy that things are back to normal in Leo's Doodleland. He's a cutie :-)
Hi Karen - Wilson is back - all three of them. We tried once before working with a Wilson look-alike didn't work, that's why we ended up getting several. Wilson now spends his nights in the garage for safe keeping. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend. We've got 60 degree weather today, I will make sure to enjoy it while it lasts!
Oh my goodness...just reading this now...poor, poor Leo is missing his 'best friend' Wilson...he looks so sad in all those pictures...my heart just aches for that sweet boy...hope Wilson is found soon:)
Poor Leo! I hope Wilson shows up before too much longer. Or maybe you can get a "Wilson" look alike? Good luck with your hunting and/or snow melt.
Oh poor Wilson! I hope they are able to reunite soon!
Oh no! Can't wait to hear that Leo and Wilson are reunited!
Poor Wilson! Looking forward to that sunshine and his reunion!
Hi Brittney - We are apposed to get more snow over night - not much, but still snow. Then we will see a warming trend (at least that's what they said) the next few days with temps rising to 57 degrees by the weekend. Hopefully Wilson will reappear by then.
He's hanging Janie - he's hanging!
How sad! The warm temperatures can't come soon enough! Hang in there Leo!
