Why, Why, Why are you Whining?????????????

I LOVE Penny-doodle but I just can't take the whining. Ginger NEVER whines, yelps, cries or any other sounds of disapproval. She barks or makes a plethora of wookie noises while playing….but Penny???? OH....EM.....DEE..... She whines to go outside, she whines to come inside, she whines when I'm not getting dinner to her fast enough..... She whines when we leave the room, SHE WHINES IN HER SLEEP! Annoyed much? I know, I’m such a whiner ;-)

Don't get me wrong, I adore her but today has just been one of those days where she can't figure out what she wants. And she's also been tearing things up and getting into stuff she shouldn't....We walk them every night and they get plenty of running around time in the yard. She’s well exercised.... Oh and this is the same beaver doodle that chewed TWO slats out of the gate a couple of weeks ago. What's a mom to do?

Luna randomly whines when she's tired... it's sort of annoying, I can relate ;)

I NEVER get tired of her wookie noises though!

Thank you all for commiserating with me. She is absolutely the most cuddly girl in the world but the whining just grates on my nerves something awful.  I will definitely treat and ignore at the appropriate times... Thanks for all of your feedback.  :)

The only thing I can think of to do is just like any other behavior that needs to be corrected or changed. Give them a stern rebuke when she whines. So when she whines, sternly tell her NO, make sure she knows you do not approve. Jack also used to be a nipper, when he was a puppy, he wanted to greet everyone with a nip, I used a spray bottle of water, every time he went to nip, he got shot in the face with a squirt of water. He hates being squirted with water. To this day, all I have to do is threaten the water bottle and that boy gets on his best behavior fast.

I hope the whining stops soon, That is enough to make anyone nuts.

I agree - I don't do whining either, so I get that this is driving you nuts.  I'd try putting her in a kennel in a sperate room every time she starts to whine, shut the door and leave her.  This will make her whine worse for a bit but when she stops - be right there to let her out and treat, treat, treat.  Starts whining again - back into the crate.   Donna - whatever you do - let us know how it goes :)

Murph has never whined....I don't think he knows how.  Guinness only does it when one of us gets out of the car.  If I stay in the car with the Doods and DH goes into a store, he will whine the whole time.  That's the only time I've ever heard it.  I'm not sure how you'd stop that unless you just wait till the minute she quits it on her own and then praise and treat so that she gets the idea that "not whining" is a good thing and gets rewarded.  If you give her what she wants whenever she whines that would probably reinforce the behavior.  I really don't know but that's what my "gut" tells me.

I absolutely do NOT do whining. Not from my children, not from my students.... but I do not have a clue how you would tell your dog that you do NOT do whining!  Oh my.

Stella is a whiner too, except it's more of a squeek than a whine. I'm kind of learning to tune it out.

OMD, I have no advice, but it's kinda funny from afar!!

Have you tried ignoring  her when she whines?  Maybe, for example when you're going to feed her....not giving her food until she is quiet?    If it makes you feel any better....my daughter was a whiner as a tiny girl....she grew out of it eventually!

Tell Penny to have a little cheese with that whine :) I can see how this would drive you nuts. If only they could tell you what is wrong.
