Wilbur will now be picked up by his family this coming weekend. Sadly, there was a death in his new family and the memorial service was Friday 4-23.

Callie and I get to enjoy the Wilbs for one more week. Wilbur is thoughtfully easing the transition by being super naughty! I now I have to keep the kitchen doors shut because he pulls everything off the counter and he ate my very favorite pair of summer shoes (while I was sitting on the sofa right above him. Note to self - don't assume it's an antler being chewed!). He's so cute though that it's difficult to be mad! Yesterday we had an impromptu playdate with with Maisy (neighbor's yellow lab) and her family (mom, dad, and daughters, 6 and 4). Callie and Maisy romped, chased each other with sticks, and worked their energy out while Wilbur played with the daughters - he LOVES them. I wish that I had my camera on me, to capture Wilbur laying on the grass in the bright sunshine with two little girls laying next to him, petting him and giving him belly rubs. He was in absolute heaven!

Many of my neighbors have fallen in love with Wilbur, so I think I'm going to have a little good-bye party for him in the 'hood.

I had a nice long chat with Wilbur's new mom last night. She's so excited that it's making me very happy! My only sadness is that they're changing his name to Webber. It's SO ridiculous that I care at all about that...he's just such a Wilbs to me! They even tried to come up with a name that sounds close, so that he will have an easy time with it. She was receptive to the idea of DK (at least she didn't say no!) so hopefully we'll get to continue to know about Wilbur/Webber.

I'm glad you got an extra week with the Wilbs, even though the reason for it is sad for his new family. Hugs to you all!

I just spoke with Wilbur's soon-to-be new dad and he's driving down to the ATL on Friday night and will pick up Wilbur on Saturday. I'll give him a good bath on Friday! I've already purchased a small bag of the food he eats (even if they don't want to feed him orijen, I don't want him to get a tummy ache from the sudden switch), a new soft toy, and I'll put his favorite antler in at the last minute. Wilbs!!!

I think Callie will miss Wilbur for a bit, but then she will settle back into her old routine. If the weather is nice this weekend, why don't we try to meet on Sunday?

I'm really worried about Callie missing him. Last night, they were laying on the floor by my desk and they were playing and then just pretty much making out (I have no idea what else to call it when dogs lay facing each other and lick each other's faces and tongues).

Enjoy your new home, Wilbur! Frannie, I know you and Callie will miss him, but it's thanks to you that he's becoming a well-adjusted, trouble-making, happy, cuddly doodle.

I really believe when they start being "naughty" that means they're happy and secure. You've certainly made him feel that way at your home. Murph was "perfectly" behaved until he felt comfortable with us. He's still a very good boy, but he feels free now to raid the wastebaskets and hide in my closet looking for purses...this Dood has a total "purse fetish". After today with his "manhood" gone, I'm expecting his affinity for purses to increase even more. I think a little "goodbye party" sounds like fun! Take some pictures.

I am so excited for Wilbur to go to his forever home... he's going to be so happy! I have made the mistake of assuming it is an antler as well... not a good idea! :-)
