WonderDog's Biopsy Results

I had to take Biscuit in to the vet this morning to have her anal glands expressed (fun, fun, fun!) and while I was there, the biopsy results for Penny mast cell came in.  Dr. Izumi came right into the room to see me.  I knew it wasn't good news by the look on her face.

 

Penny has Grade 3 mast cell cancer - this is as bad as it gets.  We don't know if or how far it has spread, and are heading to an oncologist tomorrow morning.  I'm sure they'll do more tests to check for internal spreading, and then go from there.  We're either looking at chemo, radiation, or just keeping her as comfortable as possible over the next few months.

 

You'd never know anything was wrong with her.  She's in good spirits and it's all I can do to keep her from chasing Biscuit around the yard and starting a wrestling smackdown.

 

My DH is absolutely devastated.  I found him weeping in the bedroom this afternoon.  I have known him for 32 years, and this is the first time I've seen him this broken up.  Penny was there for him through two rounds of prostate cancer and treatment, and now I know he wants to do everything possible for her.

 

I'll keep you all posted.  Your love, prayers, and emails have meant more than you know.

We are sooo sorry to hear about Penny's cancer.  My thoughts and prayers are with you, her and your DH.  It's a tough time but having lost a nondoodle best friend to cancer last year, you know you'll be able to make the right decisions for her regardless of what avenues to take.  They almost comforts us and let us know they'll be alright.  Please keep us posted and know that we are all here to help you and Penny in any way we can.
