National Geographics Travelers Magazine has selected Newfoundland's Avalon Penisula as its top rated coastal destination.

The magazine's November issue says the peninsula, the easternmost point in North America, is a "blustery realm" that is home to "brightly painted fishing villages and the lively city of St. John's."

The magazine says visiting the Avalon is "like going back in time — close-knit communities, a strong local culture reflected in music and art, and unspoiled scenery."

Yahoo, this is my neighbourhood where most of my pictures are taken. I've always thought it was a great place and now National Geographic does too. The reason I am so happy is because Newfoundland util recently was always the poorest of the canadian provinces and was often looked down on by the rest of Canada. I probably should have posted this in Nothing to do With Doodles but it is too much work to do this over.

My brother and his family spent a week in Newfoundland a few months ago. Not sure where, but they loved it.

Well of course it should be recognized. What a stunning and beautiful place. Thanks for sharing all of this beauty. I am disappointed however, that NG Magazine did not spot a beautiful white doodle in its travels to your home because that too, is one of the beauties of this place--Quincy!
