Yearning for Spring

The wind howls loudly and snow flurries move sideways across my window panes, a fire flickers softly in the fire place. There is no place to go, it's warm and cozy inside, cold and harsh outside, what to do, what to do. Find a good book, cuddle on the sofa with my favorite dood, a scratch of the belly and a rub of the ears and he is putty in my hands. A long winters day you think, no, not winter but the beginnings of spring. Spring conjures up visions of sunshine, greening grass , long walks feeling the warmth of the sun , instead no flowers poke up their head, we are surrounded by mountains of  snow and the temp rarely gets above zero. SAD, yes indeed it is sad, it's time to shake off the doldrums and time for winter to make it's exit. Why won't it leave?  I need warm, I need sunshine , I need to cast off my winter coat both literally and figuratively. Time to throw open the windows, dust off the cobwebs and welcome a little light in, now if spring would only come. The calendar says it's spring but it must be mistaken when everywhere I look I am greeted by great expanses of nothing but white. I need spring, I need to take the doodle out to play, I need to put away the trappings of winter and most of all I need to clean this house it is a total mess. Spring will come, I feel it in my heart, winter is still here, I can feel it in my bones. Oh well, at least the sun is shining, time to bundle up in my winter wear and go outside, my messy house can wait a little longer because for now it may not be springtime but it is doodletime and we're going out to play in the snow.

Took Quincy for a walk on our local golf course today and guess what I found, grass, green grass, very wet grass but still it was grass. Spring is trying to find us.

Okay, here you go - I'm sending you a bit of our California spring!  It's a beautiful 70 degrees today.  Daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and my mother are here for the day.  Husband is bbq'ing in the back yard.  Can't get much better than this.  There's plenty of sunshine to share.  Hope you can feel it...

Boy do I feel you!  We've planned to go to Baltimore Inner Harbor for weeks on end.  We also included our honeymoon with this trip.  Baltimore is usually a few weeks ahead of our central Penna weather.  On the way down Friday morning....it was snowing!  ARGH!  By the time we arrived it wasnt snowing, just cold and windy.  However, 40's beats snow and wind.  We SHALL PERSEVERE!  Spring is coming..... I've been picking all the daffodils that haven't opened yet, they bloom the next day indoors. :)

I think our snow is gone for good, but it's cold & gray here. Still, there are a few crocuses in bloom, and the tulips and daffodils are up. The lilacs and magnolia all have buds. So the promise of Spring is definitely in the air!

Same thing at our doodle house, they just sit and look at the window and wondering why are they being held hostage?? It may be a bit wamer this week but we can rain with it, so they still can't be out there. Mylas has to be brushed out tomorrow at PetSmart so that is way exciting for them to get in the car. I don't know who wants spring worse, them or me? At least yo have snow to play in we just have mud. Loved your story cheer up!!

For inland southern California it has been a cold, wet winter . We have also longed for spring. Warm sunshine,  shirtsleeves, feeling a gentle breeze...  Nope! We went directly into  summer with 3 days of mid to high 90s and a broken car air conditioner.  Fixed the air in the car yesterday - today its cool and dreary with the possibility of rain.....  Where IS real and true spring?????

It was 70 degrees here for the last two days and I was so excited! Then I woke up this morning to a big blanket of snow, and more snow is falling. Bummer.
