Usually, we wait for the pups to have their first shots (at around eight weeks) before we allow them out. Then Holly is very careful of them and goes down on her haunches so that she won't inadvertently step on one of the little darlings. It is great to have a mellow big dog like Holly when there are puppies in the house. Of course, we still don't let them play unsupervised...

We have tile floors throughout our home which makes fostering puppies and other rescue Maltese a lot easier. We have the puppies in a 4x4 foot exercise pan. Judy has sewn two beach blankets edge to edge and then we place a pee-pee pad over part of the towel. The little pups are smark enough to relieve themselves on the pee-pee pad "most of the time". The then have a bed, water and food in the pen. These two pups are in the process of being weaned so we keep mom away from them during the day and just let her nurse them at night. That way they begin to eat the puppy kibble. They wouldn't touch the kibble if mom's good milk wa available all day.

Oh Richard ..... They are so adorable! This is just what I wanted when DH talked me into #2 being another Doodle! I think Holly wants them out where she can truly play with them! lol.
