A Book for Easy Sewing Projects

Has anyone ever seen or heard about the book called "DogWear: Over 30 Super Easy Sewing Projects" by Mette Syrstad Hoydal. It sounds promising, but I haven't had an opportunity to look at it to see if it has good ideas and helpful information in it. If you own this book, or have seen it, let us know what you think about it.

I don't sew, but I'm wondering how difficult it would be for those who do to duplicate this idea:

It's basically a duvet cover that you stuff with extra blankets, towels, pillows, or whatever to make a dog bed. I'd love to have one, because Jack's comforter/bed has to be washed quite often and it seems it would be a lot easier to throw a duvet in the wash than to wash & dry a whole comforter. For those who sew, what do you think about a project like this?

I think it's a great idea - Can we make it a subject in the main discussion area so more people see it?

Being able to sew definitely opens more possibilities for making things, that's for sure. My mother sews and can make practically anything. But sadly, I cannot, so I get her help with projects.

Gee, I can make these. I am going to look into what the cost would be and offer them a whole lot cheaper to DK members. Don;t think you'd really need the stuff sack for 10-12.00 more dollars. Just stuff the thing full of whatever.

What size is Jack's bed?

It's a twin comforter folded in quarters, lol. Maybe 45" by 30"? I was thinking just the comforter inside would be enough.

This one has the side panel / width type of thing, as well as the piping, so it makes it a little complicated I think.
May be you can make a giant pillow case like thing, and that would be much simpler.

It would be easier to make it like a giant pillow sham. No need for piping or zippers. You could stuff the sham with old pillows or blankets. Shams are easy to make; a length of material and the ability to sew straight lines.

I like to hit the remnants bins at the fabric shops.

The zipper would keep out the dust mites maybe; or maybe not?

Don't know but you could wash it easily.

That's why I like it; but if the dustmites can still get into the comforter inside, defeats the purpose somewhat.
