Well we're heading home from our Christmas in Michigan and I'm happy to report that all went well. We brought together my 4 year old doodle, my new 10 week old puppy, my son's 9 month old doodle and my other son's 2 year old rescue rottie mix. I was worried that it would be a dog rodeo but it all worked out great. Even my pup got into the playtime mixes. My husband reminds me that I raised my sons to love dogs so now we get to live with it... I'm glad I did and we had a great holiday together. Did anyone else have the "love me love my dog" Christmas?
We had one labradoodle puppy visit for a night who Timbow loved!!! Now we have my parent's 9 year old shih tzu that does not like Timbow at all. Did your shih tzu's like your doodle??
We had our three: Ned - our small dood, Simon - our Lab-mix, Gordie - our Springer Spaniel; and my son's Doberman; and my daughter-in-law's two Whippets; and my daughter's young Lab, and my mom's West Highland White Terrier. Uh, that makes 8 dogs. They all do get along but we had to watch for dominance peeing from my mom's (female) Westie and poo eating from the youngest Whippet as well as well as dashing out the door by that same pup. The only damage done was when we "dog sat" while my son and daughter-in-law went rock climbing - the Whippet pup decided to get a stuffed decoration down so that she and Ned could play tug-o-war games. She is a cutie but still in the "what-can-I-get-into stage."
Luckily our house is big enough, but nowadays when we go camping (if you call an RV camping), we have to limit who comes - which we hate to do but, 1) There is not enough room; 2) campgrounds don't expect more dogs than people in the campsite!
We will be going to Mich for New Years and there will be my 9 month goldendoodle, Webster, my sister's g-doodle, my parents g-doodle & 4 month mini g-doodle in one house. Across the yard my cousin has a 10 month old poodle and my other cousin has Webster's brother, another 9 month g-doodle. A yard full of doodles for the New Year! We will overlap by 1 day my brother with his 2 dogs - a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Great Pyr mix. This year my sister with her 2 dogs will still be home in TN. We can have our own doggie romp just with family!
You guys have me beat! Glad everyone else had as much fun as we did. We were also very surprised at how well everyone got along. My husband said when he came downstairs in the morning the floor was "alive" and moving. It was all the happy dog tails wagging to greet him! No better way to spend the holidays than that huh??
